This is incorrect since the\ndpaa2_switch_free_fd() is intended to be used on Tx frame descriptors,\nmeaning that it expects in the software annotation area of the FD data\nto find a valid skb pointer on which to call dev_kfree_skb().\n\nFix this by extracting the dma_unmap_page() from\ndpaa2_switch_build_linear_skb() directly into the dpaa2_switch_rx()\nfunction. This allows us to directly use free_pages() in case of an\nerror before an SKB was created and kfree_skb() afterwards.","publishedAt":"2026-10-23T11:54:57.029Z","updatedAt":"2026-10-26T06:56:41.537Z","severity":{"score":7.5,"label":"High","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:A/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","source":"Linux"},"assigner":"Linux","products":["Linux Linux"],"affected":[{"vendor":"Linux","product":"Linux","defaultStatus":"unaffected","versions":[{"version":"613c0a5810b79610db8535c3816b0c149675f8ee","status":"affected","lessThan":"791068c962469af0090e1a1ee63657fb9eef40db","versionType":"git"},{"version":"613c0a5810b79610db8535c3816b0c149675f8ee","status":"affected","lessThan":"ee54f8d7e642c44cfcc2dcb390b4c50e145d81b8","versionType":"git"},{"version":"613c0a5810b79610db8535c3816b0c149675f8ee","status":"affected","lessThan":"259ad6093204b999d41e7e6d0ad90ef9a71a44ab","versionType":"git"},{"version":"613c0a5810b79610db8535c3816b0c149675f8ee","status":"affected","lessThan":"f4ceb8e3d6d5becb4cda7a7098a8638e18c835a1","versionType":"git"},{"version":"613c0a5810b79610db8535c3816b0c149675f8ee","status":"affected","lessThan":"fa232b4496cb59503ae5108c756cbe10e59b0bc3","versionType":"git"},{"version":"613c0a5810b79610db8535c3816b0c149675f8ee","status":"affected","lessThan":"74c1c9f5c0c30bbd0c2cf87b6e3507e7ea46c13d","versionType":"git"}],"repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["drivers/net/ethernet/freescale/dpaa2/dpaa2-switch.c"]},{"vendor":"Linux","product":"Linux","defaultStatus":"affected","versions":[{"version":"5.13","status":"affected"},{"version":"0","status":"unaffected","lessThan":"5.13","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.15.222","status":"unaffected","lessThanOrEqual":"5.15.*","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.1.189","status":"unaffected","lessThanOrEqual":"6.1.*","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.6.158","status":"unaffected","lessThanOrEqual":"6.6.*","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.12.111","status":"unaffected","lessThanOrEqual":"6.12.*","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.18.53","status":"unaffected","lessThanOrEqual":"6.18.*","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.2","status":"unaffected","lessThanOrEqual":"*","versionType":"original_commit_for_fix"}],"repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["drivers/net/ethernet/freescale/dpaa2/dpaa2-switch.c"]}],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/791068c962469af0090e1a1ee63657fb9eef40db","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/ee54f8d7e642c44cfcc2dcb390b4c50e145d81b8","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/259ad6093204b999d41e7e6d0ad90ef9a71a44ab","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/f4ceb8e3d6d5becb4cda7a7098a8638e18c835a1","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/fa232b4496cb59503ae5108c756cbe10e59b0bc3","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/74c1c9f5c0c30bbd0c2cf87b6e3507e7ea46c13d"],"weaknesses":[],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:13:43.249Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/98xxx/CVE-2026-98911.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-98911","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-10-23T11:54:57.029Z","dateUpdated":"2026-10-26T06:56:41.537Z","assignerShortName":"Linux","assignerOrgId":"416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67","dateReserved":"2026-09-25T10:25:14.379Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"dpaa2-switch: fix the error path in dpaa2_switch_rx()","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:\n\ndpaa2-switch: fix the error path in dpaa2_switch_rx()\n\nIn case of an error in dpaa2_switch_rx(), the dpaa2_switch_free_fd()\nfunction is called in order to free the FD.
