{"id":"CVE-2026-9729","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"Web Push Notifications <= 4.39.0 - Authenticated (Contributor+) Stored Cross-Site Scripting via 'webpushr_notification_title' Post Meta Parameter","description":"The Webpushr Push Notifications plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'webpushr_notification_title' and 'webpushr_notification_body' parameters in versions up to, and including, 4.39.0. This is due to insufficient input sanitization in the save_send_notification_flag() function and missing output escaping in the wpp_notification_box() function, which concatenates raw post meta values directly into HTML attribute and textarea contexts. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.","publishedAt":"2026-07-23T06:52:33.814Z","updatedAt":"2026-07-23T16:04:51.114Z","severity":{"score":6.4,"label":"Medium","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","source":"Wordfence"},"assigner":"Wordfence","products":["webpushr Web Push Notifications – Webpushr"],"affected":[{"vendor":"webpushr","product":"Web Push Notifications – Webpushr","defaultStatus":"unaffected","versions":[{"version":"0","status":"affected","lessThanOrEqual":"4.39.0","versionType":"semver"}]}],"references":["https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/39286096-2efa-450b-b491-b3d40de5a4ae?source=cve","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/webpushr-web-push-notifications/trunk/include/webpushr_functions.php#L513","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/webpushr-web-push-notifications/trunk/include/webpushr_functions.php#L517","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/webpushr-web-push-notifications/trunk/include/webpushr_functions.php#L699","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/webpushr-web-push-notifications/trunk/include/webpushr_functions.php#L702"],"weaknesses":["CWE-79"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:13:52.441Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/9xxx/CVE-2026-9729.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-9729","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-07-23T06:52:33.814Z","dateUpdated":"2026-07-23T16:04:51.114Z","assignerShortName":"Wordfence","assignerOrgId":"b15e7b5b-3da4-40ae-a43c-f7aa60e62599","dateReserved":"2026-05-27T17:22:45.590Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"Web Push Notifications <= 4.39.0 - Authenticated (Contributor+) Stored Cross-Site Scripting via 'webpushr_notification_title' Post Meta Parameter","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"The Webpushr Push Notifications plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'webpushr_notification_title' and 'webpushr_notification_body' parameters in versions up to, and including, 4.39.0.
