{"id":"CVE-2026-97205","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"NGINX ngx_http_core_module vulnerability","description":"NGINX Plus and NGINX Open Source have a vulnerability in the ngx_http_core_module module. When asynchronous file I/O (AIO) is enabled in certain configurations, processing a Server Side Includes (SSI) page containing “include virtual” commands may trigger a Use-After-Free (UAF) in the NGINX worker process. This may cause memory corruption or a worker process crash. Additionally, attackers can execute code on systems with Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR) disabled or when the attacker can bypass ASLR.\n\nImpact:\nThis vulnerability may allow remote attackers to cause a denial-of-service (DoS) on the NGINX system, corrupt its memory, or possibly trigger code execution. There is no control plane exposure; this is a data plane issue only.\n\n\n\n\nNote: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated.","publishedAt":"2026-10-14T14:40:27.487Z","updatedAt":"2026-10-15T10:31:15.547Z","severity":{"score":9.2,"label":"Critical","version":"4.0","vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:H/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","source":"f5"},"assigner":"f5","products":["F5 NGINX Plus","F5 NGINX Open Source"],"affected":[{"vendor":"F5","product":"NGINX Plus","defaultStatus":"unknown","versions":[{"version":"37.1.0","status":"affected","lessThan":"37.1.0.1","versionType":"custom"},{"version":"37.0.0","status":"affected","lessThan":"37.0.5.1","versionType":"custom"},{"version":"R36","status":"affected","lessThan":"*","versionType":"custom"},{"version":"R35","status":"affected","lessThan":"*","versionType":"custom"},{"version":"R34","status":"affected","lessThan":"*","versionType":"custom"},{"version":"R33","status":"affected","lessThan":"*","versionType":"custom"}],"modules":["ngx_http_core_module"]},{"vendor":"F5","product":"NGINX Open Source","defaultStatus":"unaffected","versions":[{"version":"1.31.0","status":"affected","lessThan":"1.31.7","versionType":"custom"},{"version":"1.30.0","status":"affected","lessThan":"1.30.6","versionType":"custom"}],"modules":["ngx_http_core_module"]}],"references":["https://my.f5.com/manage/s/article/K000162608"],"weaknesses":["CWE-416"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:13:43.249Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/97xxx/CVE-2026-97205.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-97205","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-10-14T14:40:27.487Z","dateUpdated":"2026-10-15T10:31:15.547Z","assignerShortName":"f5","assignerOrgId":"9dacffd4-cb11-413f-8451-fbbfd4ddc0ab","dateReserved":"2026-09-30T21:56:14.607Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"NGINX ngx_http_core_module vulnerability","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"NGINX Plus and NGINX Open Source have a vulnerability in the ngx_http_core_module module.
