{"id":"CVE-2026-9594","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"WP Maps <= 4.9.4 - Authenticated (Admin+) Stored Cross-Site Scripting via 'location_messages' Parameter","description":"The WP Maps – Google Maps,OpenStreetMap,Mapbox,Store Locator,Listing,Directory & Filters plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'location_messages' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 4.9.4 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with administrator-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. Exploitation requires the attacker to hold the custom wpgmp_manage_location capability, which is granted to administrators by default but can be assigned to lower-privileged roles via the plugin's Permissions screen.","publishedAt":"2026-06-06T03:28:25.853Z","updatedAt":"2026-06-06T11:42:08.069Z","severity":{"score":4.4,"label":"Medium","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","source":"Wordfence"},"assigner":"Wordfence","products":["flippercode WP Maps – Google Maps,OpenStreetMap,Mapbox,Store Locator,Listing,Directory & Filters"],"affected":[{"vendor":"flippercode","product":"WP Maps – Google Maps,OpenStreetMap,Mapbox,Store Locator,Listing,Directory & Filters","defaultStatus":"unaffected","versions":[{"version":"0","status":"affected","lessThanOrEqual":"4.9.4","versionType":"semver"}]}],"references":["https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/d082c6e6-a18a-44e2-9478-7189f9777198?source=cve","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/wp-google-map-plugin/trunk/modules/shortcode/views/put-wpgmp.php#L632","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/wp-google-map-plugin/trunk/modules/location/model.location.php#L299","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/wp-google-map-plugin/tags/4.9.2/modules/shortcode/views/put-wpgmp.php#L632","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/wp-google-map-plugin/tags/4.9.2/modules/location/model.location.php#L299","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?sfp_email=&sfph_mail=&reponame=&old=3550683%40wp-google-map-plugin&new=3550683%40wp-google-map-plugin&sfp_email=&sfph_mail="],"weaknesses":["CWE-79"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:13:52.441Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/9xxx/CVE-2026-9594.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-9594","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-06-06T03:28:25.853Z","dateUpdated":"2026-06-06T11:42:08.069Z","assignerShortName":"Wordfence","assignerOrgId":"b15e7b5b-3da4-40ae-a43c-f7aa60e62599","dateReserved":"2026-05-26T14:33:03.586Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"WP Maps <= 4.9.4 - Authenticated (Admin+) Stored Cross-Site Scripting via 'location_messages' Parameter","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"The WP Maps – Google Maps,OpenStreetMap,Mapbox,Store Locator,Listing,Directory & Filters plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'location_messages' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 4.9.4 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping.
