This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This is exploitable via a nonce-free GET request to /wp-admin/profile.php, requiring no profile-form submission; a Subscriber can plant the malicious attachment URL, which then executes when an administrator opens that user's Edit User screen.","publishedAt":"2026-09-25T07:40:26.659Z","updatedAt":"2026-09-25T13:00:15.505Z","severity":{"score":6.4,"label":"Medium","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","source":"Wordfence"},"assigner":"Wordfence","products":["cozmoslabs User Profile Builder – Beautiful User Registration Forms, User Profiles & User Role Editor"],"affected":[{"vendor":"cozmoslabs","product":"User Profile Builder – Beautiful User Registration Forms, User Profiles & User Role Editor","defaultStatus":"unaffected","versions":[{"version":"0","status":"affected","lessThanOrEqual":"4.0.2","versionType":"semver"}]}],"references":["https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/4d4991ff-903a-410a-b472-1a5f76a32940?source=cve","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/profile-builder/tags/4.0.2/front-end/default-fields/upload/upload_helper_functions.php#L286","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/profile-builder/tags/4.0.2/front-end/default-fields/avatar/avatar.php#L43","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/profile-builder/tags/4.0.2/front-end/default-fields/avatar/avatar.php#L67","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/profile-builder/tags/4.0.2/front-end/default-fields/avatar/avatar.php#L75","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/profile-builder/tags/4.0.2/front-end/default-fields/fields-functions.php#L30","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/3708665/profile-builder"],"weaknesses":["CWE-79"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:13:34.582Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/93xxx/CVE-2026-93656.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-93656","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-09-25T07:40:26.659Z","dateUpdated":"2026-09-25T13:00:15.505Z","assignerShortName":"Wordfence","assignerOrgId":"b15e7b5b-3da4-40ae-a43c-f7aa60e62599","dateReserved":"2026-09-18T13:18:59.393Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"User Profile Builder <= 4.0.2 - Authenticated (Subscriber+) Stored Cross-Site Scripting via Avatar Field","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"The User Profile Builder – Beautiful User Registration Forms, User Profiles & User Role Editor plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via Avatar Field in all versions up to, and including, 4.0.2 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping.
