In that context, functions ufshcd_tx_eqtr(), __ufshcd_tx_eqtr()\nand ufs_qcom_get_rx_fom() allocate memory with GFP_KERNEL. If direct\nreclaim is triggered, reclaim/writeback can depend on I/O to UFS\ndevice. Because the queue is quiesced, this can cause deadlock.\n\nUse memalloc_noio_save/restore() in ufshcd_tx_eqtr() to cover all\nallocations in the TX EQTR call tree, including:\n\n - params->eqtr_record in ufshcd_tx_eqtr()\n\n - eqtr_data in __ufshcd_tx_eqtr()\n\n - params in ufs_qcom_get_rx_fom()\n\nThis is preferred over tagging individual call sites with GFP_NOIO, as it\nautomatically covers any future allocations added anywhere in the call tree\nwithout requiring each caller to be aware of this constraint.\n\n[mkp: fix label as suggested by Bart]","publishedAt":"2026-09-17T16:10:45.108Z","updatedAt":"2026-10-19T09:04:53.229Z","severity":null,"assigner":"Linux","products":["Linux Linux"],"affected":[{"vendor":"Linux","product":"Linux","defaultStatus":"unaffected","versions":[{"version":"03e5d38e2f985d8d0b0a60508c0b422f664808e3","status":"affected","lessThan":"a28a7d9b3bb116da788ae492c90465ec1a7fa6e8","versionType":"git"},{"version":"03e5d38e2f985d8d0b0a60508c0b422f664808e3","status":"affected","lessThan":"760fc6f0e25a72832c2fcf37ecf5f1b770ec8374","versionType":"git"}],"repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["drivers/ufs/core/ufs-txeq.c"]},{"vendor":"Linux","product":"Linux","defaultStatus":"affected","versions":[{"version":"7.1","status":"affected"},{"version":"0","status":"unaffected","lessThan":"7.1","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.2.6","status":"unaffected","lessThanOrEqual":"7.2.*","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.3","status":"unaffected","lessThanOrEqual":"*","versionType":"original_commit_for_fix"}],"repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["drivers/ufs/core/ufs-txeq.c"]}],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/a28a7d9b3bb116da788ae492c90465ec1a7fa6e8","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/760fc6f0e25a72832c2fcf37ecf5f1b770ec8374"],"weaknesses":[],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:13:34.582Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/93xxx/CVE-2026-93057.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-93057","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-09-17T16:10:45.108Z","dateUpdated":"2026-10-19T09:04:53.229Z","assignerShortName":"Linux","assignerOrgId":"416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67","dateReserved":"2026-09-17T15:57:05.659Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"scsi: ufs: core: Avoid possible memory reclaim deadlock in TX EQTR context","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:\n\nscsi: ufs: core: Avoid possible memory reclaim deadlock in TX EQTR context\n\nTX EQTR may run while devfreq gear scaling has quiesced the UFS\ntagset.
