{"id":"CVE-2026-90995","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"Sssd: sssd: local denial of service due to null pointer dereference in pam responder","description":"A flaw was found in SSSD (System Security Services Daemon). A local attacker with privileges to connect to the PAM (Pluggable Authentication Modules) responder socket can send a specially crafted protocol request. If the `pam_app_services` configuration is enabled and the service item is omitted from the request, a NULL pointer dereference can occur. This vulnerability leads to a denial of service, causing the PAM responder to crash and disrupt authentication services.","publishedAt":"2026-09-14T15:55:32.674Z","updatedAt":"2026-09-15T13:56:35.217Z","severity":{"score":5.5,"label":"Medium","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","source":"redhat"},"assigner":"redhat","products":["Red Hat Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10","Red Hat Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6","Red Hat Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7","Red Hat Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8","Red Hat Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9","Red Hat Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4"],"affected":[{"vendor":"Red Hat","product":"Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10","packageName":"sssd","defaultStatus":"affected","collectionURL":"https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/package-browser/","cpes":["cpe:/o:redhat:enterprise_linux:10"]},{"vendor":"Red Hat","product":"Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6","packageName":"sssd","defaultStatus":"unknown","collectionURL":"https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/package-browser/","cpes":["cpe:/o:redhat:enterprise_linux:6"]},{"vendor":"Red Hat","product":"Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7","packageName":"sssd","defaultStatus":"affected","collectionURL":"https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/package-browser/","cpes":["cpe:/o:redhat:enterprise_linux:7"]},{"vendor":"Red Hat","product":"Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8","packageName":"sssd","defaultStatus":"affected","collectionURL":"https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/package-browser/","cpes":["cpe:/o:redhat:enterprise_linux:8"]},{"vendor":"Red Hat","product":"Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9","packageName":"sssd","defaultStatus":"affected","collectionURL":"https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/package-browser/","cpes":["cpe:/o:redhat:enterprise_linux:9"]},{"vendor":"Red Hat","product":"Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4","packageName":"openshift/ose-rhel-coreos-8","defaultStatus":"affected","collectionURL":"https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/package-browser/","cpes":["cpe:/a:redhat:openshift:4"]},{"vendor":"Red Hat","product":"Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4","packageName":"openshift/ose-rhel-coreos-9","defaultStatus":"affected","collectionURL":"https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/package-browser/","cpes":["cpe:/a:redhat:openshift:4"]}],"references":["https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-90995","https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2479464"],"weaknesses":["CWE-476"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:13:34.582Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/90xxx/CVE-2026-90995.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-90995","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-09-14T15:55:32.674Z","dateUpdated":"2026-09-15T13:56:35.217Z","assignerShortName":"redhat","assignerOrgId":"53f830b8-0a3f-465b-8143-3b8a9948e749","dateReserved":"2026-09-14T14:39:41.792Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"Sssd: sssd: local denial of service due to null pointer dereference in pam responder","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"A flaw was found in SSSD (System Security Services Daemon).
