This is due to insufficient input validation in the add_list() function, which accepts user-controlled array keys from $_POST['addresses'], passes them through sanitize_text_field(). This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to make authenticated POST requests to any Mailgun API endpoint using the WordPress site's API key, including creating inbound email-forwarding routes that can intercept password reset emails, leading to administrator account takeover.","publishedAt":"2026-08-22T08:26:38.970Z","updatedAt":"2026-08-25T13:15:26.345Z","severity":{"score":9.8,"label":"Critical","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","source":"Wordfence"},"assigner":"Wordfence","products":["mailgun Mailgun for WordPress"],"affected":[{"vendor":"mailgun","product":"Mailgun for WordPress","defaultStatus":"unaffected","versions":[{"version":"0","status":"affected","lessThanOrEqual":"2.2.0","versionType":"semver"}]}],"references":["https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/110e888d-69fc-4682-b908-2b62288c5227?source=cve","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/mailgun/trunk/mailgun.php#L557","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/mailgun/trunk/mailgun.php#L259","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/mailgun/tags/2.1.10/mailgun.php#L259","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/mailgun/trunk/mailgun.php#L323","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/mailgun/tags/2.1.10/mailgun.php#L323","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/mailgun/trunk/mailgun.php#L331","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/mailgun/tags/2.1.10/mailgun.php#L331","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/mailgun/tags/2.1.10/mailgun.php#L557"],"weaknesses":["CWE-918"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:13:07.220Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/78xxx/CVE-2026-78003.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-78003","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-08-22T08:26:38.970Z","dateUpdated":"2026-08-25T13:15:26.345Z","assignerShortName":"Wordfence","assignerOrgId":"b15e7b5b-3da4-40ae-a43c-f7aa60e62599","dateReserved":"2026-08-21T19:58:10.111Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"Mailgun for WordPress <= 2.2.0 - Unauthenticated Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) via 'addresses' Array Keys","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"The Mailgun for WordPress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) via path traversal in versions up to and including 2.2.0.
