{"id":"CVE-2026-76321","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"SPL Injection through Nearby Event Searches in Splunk Enterprise","description":"In Splunk Enterprise versions below 10.4.2, 10.2.6, 10.0.9, and 9.4.14, an unauthenticated user could inject arbitrary Search Processing Language (SPL) into requests that search for events near a selected event. This could allow for unauthorized search execution. The vulnerability is possible because Splunk Web does not consistently escape caller-supplied values when it builds SPL for nearby-event searches, and embedded report access accepts those requests without the expected authorization check. For more information see Use time to find nearby events (https://help.splunk.com/en/splunk-enterprise/search/search-manual/10.2/specify-time-ranges/use-time-to-find-nearby-events) in the Splunk documentation.","publishedAt":"2026-08-19T21:34:27.325Z","updatedAt":"2026-08-27T16:24:57.240Z","severity":{"score":7.3,"label":"High","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:L","source":"cisco"},"assigner":"cisco","products":["Splunk Splunk Enterprise"],"affected":[{"vendor":"Splunk","product":"Splunk Enterprise","versions":[{"version":"10.4","status":"affected","lessThan":"10.4.2","versionType":"custom"},{"version":"10.2","status":"affected","lessThan":"10.2.6","versionType":"custom"},{"version":"10.0","status":"affected","lessThan":"10.0.9","versionType":"custom"},{"version":"9.4","status":"affected","lessThan":"9.4.14","versionType":"custom"}]}],"references":["https://advisory.splunk.com/advisories/SVD-2026-0801"],"weaknesses":["CWE-77"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:12:58.252Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/76xxx/CVE-2026-76321.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-76321","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-08-19T21:34:27.325Z","dateUpdated":"2026-08-27T16:24:57.240Z","assignerShortName":"cisco","assignerOrgId":"d1c1063e-7a18-46af-9102-31f8928bc633","dateReserved":"2026-08-19T12:02:03.625Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"SPL Injection through Nearby Event Searches in Splunk Enterprise","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"In Splunk Enterprise versions below 10.4.2, 10.2.6, 10.0.9, and 9.4.14, an unauthenticated user could inject arbitrary Search Processing Language (SPL) into requests that search for events near a selected event.
