Inside rtw_wep_decrypt(), length is computed as:\n\n length = len - WLAN_HDR_A3_LEN - iv_len\n\nand then passed as (length - 4) to crc32_le(). If len is less than\nWLAN_HDR_A3_LEN + iv_len + icv_len (32 bytes), length - 4 is negative\nand, after the implicit cast to size_t, causes crc32_le() to read far\nbeyond the frame buffer. Add a minimum length check before accessing\nthe IV field and calling the decryption path.\n\nWhen processing a seq=3 response, rtw_get_ie() stores the Challenge\nText IE length in ie_len, but the subsequent memcmp() always reads 128\nbytes regardless of ie_len. IEEE 802.11 mandates a challenge text of\nexactly 128 bytes; reject any IE whose length field differs, matching\nthe check already applied to OnAuthClient().","publishedAt":"2026-07-25T08:51:16.670Z","updatedAt":"2026-10-19T20:38:29.983Z","severity":{"score":8.8,"label":"High","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:A/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","source":"Linux"},"assigner":"Linux","products":["Linux Linux"],"affected":[{"vendor":"Linux","product":"Linux","defaultStatus":"unaffected","versions":[{"version":"554c0a3abf216c991c5ebddcdb2c08689ecd290b","status":"affected","lessThan":"665e1ecb68b4e8419604e70a33f02d1c8b0222c6","versionType":"git"},{"version":"554c0a3abf216c991c5ebddcdb2c08689ecd290b","status":"affected","lessThan":"87cccc2a767f17dcab71e3b9fe5ae29b5516c5ce","versionType":"git"},{"version":"554c0a3abf216c991c5ebddcdb2c08689ecd290b","status":"affected","lessThan":"c9000c93078e5c0a5a651b077c0ec92a4bc7d580","versionType":"git"},{"version":"554c0a3abf216c991c5ebddcdb2c08689ecd290b","status":"affected","lessThan":"1f6c9d255bdda41216b6e34c96aa2b1abee0bb84","versionType":"git"},{"version":"554c0a3abf216c991c5ebddcdb2c08689ecd290b","status":"affected","lessThan":"3e44a7665f3abd320a80d9c64ee4a93317041b8b","versionType":"git"},{"version":"554c0a3abf216c991c5ebddcdb2c08689ecd290b","status":"affected","lessThan":"64ec4192d9c10e96922245d4a6747304cc76b19d","versionType":"git"},{"version":"554c0a3abf216c991c5ebddcdb2c08689ecd290b","status":"affected","lessThan":"d90b9f39f375c9826ef145605dfe97765d0ecb91","versionType":"git"},{"version":"554c0a3abf216c991c5ebddcdb2c08689ecd290b","status":"affected","lessThan":"a1fc19d61f661d47204f095b593de507884849f7","versionType":"git"}],"repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["drivers/staging/rtl8723bs/core/rtw_mlme_ext.c"]},{"vendor":"Linux","product":"Linux","defaultStatus":"affected","versions":[{"version":"4.12","status":"affected"},{"version":"0","status":"unaffected","lessThan":"4.12","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.10.261","status":"unaffected","lessThanOrEqual":"5.10.*","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.15.212","status":"unaffected","lessThanOrEqual":"5.15.*","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.1.178","status":"unaffected","lessThanOrEqual":"6.1.*","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.6.145","status":"unaffected","lessThanOrEqual":"6.6.*","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.12.96","status":"unaffected","lessThanOrEqual":"6.12.*","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.18.39","status":"unaffected","lessThanOrEqual":"6.18.*","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.1.4","status":"unaffected","lessThanOrEqual":"7.1.*","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.2","status":"unaffected","lessThanOrEqual":"*","versionType":"original_commit_for_fix"}],"repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["drivers/staging/rtl8723bs/core/rtw_mlme_ext.c"]}],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/665e1ecb68b4e8419604e70a33f02d1c8b0222c6","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/87cccc2a767f17dcab71e3b9fe5ae29b5516c5ce","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/c9000c93078e5c0a5a651b077c0ec92a4bc7d580","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/1f6c9d255bdda41216b6e34c96aa2b1abee0bb84","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/3e44a7665f3abd320a80d9c64ee4a93317041b8b","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/64ec4192d9c10e96922245d4a6747304cc76b19d","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/d90b9f39f375c9826ef145605dfe97765d0ecb91","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/a1fc19d61f661d47204f095b593de507884849f7"],"weaknesses":["CWE-125"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:12:41.951Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/64xxx/CVE-2026-64445.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-64445","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-07-25T08:51:16.670Z","dateUpdated":"2026-10-19T20:38:29.983Z","assignerShortName":"Linux","assignerOrgId":"416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67","dateReserved":"2026-07-19T15:36:31.788Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"staging: rtl8723bs: fix WEP length underflow and OOB read in OnAuth()","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:\n\nstaging: rtl8723bs: fix WEP length underflow and OOB read in OnAuth()\n\nOnAuth() has two bugs in the shared-key authentication path.\n\nWhen the Privacy bit is set, rtw_wep_decrypt() is called without\nverifying that the frame is long enough to contain a valid WEP IV and\nICV.
