{"id":"CVE-2026-61588","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"djust's Django model serialization has no sensitive-field denylist: password hashes, privilege flags, and PII on a public view attribute are sent to the client","description":"djust provides Phoenix LiveView-style reactive server-side rendering for Django with Rust-powered performance. Prior to version 1.0.7, when a Django `Model` instance is assigned to a public view attribute, djust serialized it to the client with no sensitive-field denylist — sending fields such as `password` (the hash), privilege flags (e.g. `is_staff` / `is_superuser`), tokens, and other PII to the browser. Because exposing model objects to templates is a normal djust pattern, this could leak credentials/PII without the developer realizing the full object crossed the wire. This is fixed in djust 1.0.7. Model serialization applies a secure-by-default sensitive-field denylist (password/hash/token/secret-style fields and known privilege flags are withheld) with an identity-subset fallback. As a workaround, keep `Model` instances on `_private` attributes and expose only the specific fields needed, until patched.","publishedAt":"2026-09-16T22:04:03.442Z","updatedAt":"2026-09-19T02:06:36.974Z","severity":{"score":6.5,"label":"Medium","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","source":"GitHub_M"},"assigner":"GitHub_M","products":["djust-org djust"],"affected":[{"vendor":"djust-org","product":"djust","versions":[{"version":"< 1.0.7","status":"affected"}]}],"references":["https://github.com/djust-org/djust/security/advisories/GHSA-pvg3-6q9j-mj3x","https://github.com/djust-org/djust/releases/tag/v1.0.7"],"weaknesses":["CWE-200","CWE-359"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:12:32.778Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/61xxx/CVE-2026-61588.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-61588","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-09-16T22:04:03.442Z","dateUpdated":"2026-09-19T02:06:36.974Z","assignerShortName":"GitHub_M","assignerOrgId":"a0819718-46f1-4df5-94e2-005712e83aaa","dateReserved":"2026-07-10T17:12:17.237Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"djust's Django model serialization has no sensitive-field denylist: password hashes, privilege flags, and PII on a public view attribute are sent to the client","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"djust provides Phoenix LiveView-style reactive server-side rendering for Django with Rust-powered performance.
