{"id":"CVE-2026-54788","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"dd-trace-rs: Unbounded W3C tracestate parsing may lead to DoS","description":"dd-trace-rs provides Datadog application performance monitoring for Rust. From 0.1.0 until 0.3.3, datadog-opentelemetry/src/propagation/tracecontext.rs parses the W3C tracestate header and collects every semicolon-separated key and value pair in the Datadog dd=... vendor entry into a HashMap without enforcing a pair count or entry size limit. Because tracecontext extraction is enabled by default, a remote unauthenticated attacker can send an arbitrarily large dd=... entry and force excessive CPU and memory consumption for each request, causing denial of service in an instrumented network service. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.3.3.","publishedAt":"2026-08-28T16:33:49.032Z","updatedAt":"2026-08-31T18:57:14.867Z","severity":{"score":7.5,"label":"High","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","source":"GitHub_M"},"assigner":"GitHub_M","products":["DataDog dd-trace-rs"],"affected":[{"vendor":"DataDog","product":"dd-trace-rs","versions":[{"version":">= 0.1.0, < 0.3.3","status":"affected"}]}],"references":["https://github.com/DataDog/dd-trace-rs/security/advisories/GHSA-gpwf-4h98-v82q","https://github.com/DataDog/dd-trace-rs/pull/218","https://github.com/DataDog/dd-trace-rs/commit/77c5d185c71d0ea8103da0e6cf4cd50677ffacd2","https://github.com/DataDog/dd-trace-rs/releases/tag/datadog-opentelemetry-v0.3.3"],"weaknesses":["CWE-770"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:12:24.861Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/54xxx/CVE-2026-54788.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-54788","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-08-28T16:33:49.032Z","dateUpdated":"2026-08-31T18:57:14.867Z","assignerShortName":"GitHub_M","assignerOrgId":"a0819718-46f1-4df5-94e2-005712e83aaa","dateReserved":"2026-06-15T23:23:57.714Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"dd-trace-rs: Unbounded W3C tracestate parsing may lead to DoS","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"dd-trace-rs provides Datadog application performance monitoring for Rust.
