A remote peer can send the malformed AUTH-bundled ASCONF packet over the network.\nAC:L - Triggering only requires a syntactically valid SCTP packet with an AUTH chunk before a truncated ASCONF chunk declaring an IPv6 address parameter. There is no race or condition outside attacker control.\nPR:N - The association lookup path only checks that an AUTH chunk was seen before ASCONF; it does not validate the AUTH HMAC before the vulnerable read. The commit explicitly describes an unauthenticated peer reaching the bug.\nUI:N - No victim action is required after SCTP is reachable on the target. The attacker sends network packets directly to the kernel receive path.\nS:U - The vulnerability affects the kernel SCTP networking stack within the same operating-system security authority. It does not cross a VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary.\nC:H - The bug causes an unauthenticated out-of-bounds/uninitialized read of up to a full IPv6 address worth of bytes past a truncated ASCONF parameter. Under the provided guidance, this is scored High because it is an OOB read not strictly limited to a few harmless bytes.\nI:N - The vulnerable operation reads bytes into a temporary SCTP address used for lookup and does not write attacker data to kernel structures. No direct integrity modification or control-flow overwrite is present.\nA:H - The malformed packet can repeatedly trigger an invalid kernel receive-path read, and such out-of-bounds reads can fault or panic on hardened/sanitized deployments. With uncertainty resolved upward, availability impact is High."}]}],"providerMetadata":{"shortName":"Linux","orgId":"416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67","dateUpdated":"2026-08-05T12:34:17.928Z"},"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.25","versionEndExcluding":"5.10.259"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.25","versionEndExcluding":"5.15.210"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.25","versionEndExcluding":"6.1.176"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.25","versionEndExcluding":"6.6.143"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.25","versionEndExcluding":"6.12.94"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.25","versionEndExcluding":"6.18.36"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.25","versionEndExcluding":"7.0.13"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"2.6.25","versionEndExcluding":"7.1"}]}]}],"x_generator":{"engine":"bippy-1.2.0"}},"adp":[{"affected":[{"vendor":"Siemens","product":"SIMATIC S7-1500 TM MFP - GNU/Linux subsystem","defaultStatus":"unknown","versions":[{"version":"0","status":"affected","lessThan":"*","versionType":"custom"}]}],"references":[{"url":"https://cert-portal.siemens.com/productcert/html/ssa-784472.html"}],"providerMetadata":{"shortName":"siemens-SADP","orgId":"0b142b55-0307-4c5a-b3c9-f314f3fb7c5e","dateUpdated":"2026-10-15T01:22:49.487Z"},"x_adpType":"supplier"},{"title":"CISA ADP Vulnrichment","metrics":[{"other":{"type":"ssvc","content":{"id":"CVE-2026-53225","role":"CISA Coordinator","options":[{"Exploitation":"none"},{"Automatable":"yes"},{"Technical Impact":"partial"}],"version":"2.0.3","timestamp":"2026-10-16T15:27:14.365296Z"}}}],"problemTypes":[{"descriptions":[{"cweId":"CWE-125","lang":"en","type":"CWE","description":"CWE-125 Out-of-bounds Read"}]}],"providerMetadata":{"shortName":"CISA-ADP","orgId":"134c704f-9b21-4f2e-91b3-4a467353bcc0","dateUpdated":"2026-10-19T19:57:29.994Z"}}]}}}
