When the IPv6 ICMP redirect policy is active, the packet is copied into a buffer that is freed but subsequently passed to a downstream filter. The size of the freed allocation is attacker-controlled (via packet length), enabling kernel pool grooming. Exploitation requires that the non-default IPv6 ICMP capture/redirect policy is enabled for the endpoint.","publishedAt":"2026-10-14T00:00:00.000Z","updatedAt":"2026-10-14T17:22:56.490Z","severity":{"score":4.7,"label":"Medium","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","source":"mitre"},"assigner":"mitre","products":["Akamai Guardicore Platform Agent"],"affected":[{"vendor":"Akamai","product":"Guardicore Platform Agent","defaultStatus":"unaffected","versions":[{"version":"0","status":"affected","lessThan":"7.4","versionType":"custom"}]}],"references":["https://techdocs.akamai.com/guardicore-platform-agent/changelog/","https://www.akamai.com/newsroom/security-advisories/guardicore-platform-agent-7-4"],"weaknesses":["CWE-416"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:12:16.098Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/50xxx/CVE-2026-50217.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-50217","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-10-14T00:00:00.000Z","dateUpdated":"2026-10-14T17:22:56.490Z","assignerShortName":"mitre","assignerOrgId":"8254265b-2729-46b6-b9e3-3dfca2d5bfca","dateReserved":"2026-06-04T00:00:00.000Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"A use-after-free vulnerability in the Windows WFP callout driver of Akamai Guardicore Platform Agent (GPA) allows a local low-privileged user to cause a denial of service (system crash / BSOD) via an outbound ICMPv6 packet containing an IPv6 Hop-by-Hop extension header.
