The _log() function in src/juniper_plugin/fastnetmon_juniper.php (lines 117-118) constructs shell commands by concatenating the $msg parameter directly into exec() calls: exec(\"echo `date` \\\"- {FASTNETMON] - \" . $msg . \" \\\" >> \" . $FILE_LOG_TMP). The $msg variable contains unsanitized data derived from command-line arguments argv[1] through argv[3], which represent the attack IP address, direction, and power. While FastNetMon's C++ core currently passes IP addresses via inet_ntoa() (which only produces safe dotted-decimal notation), the PHP script performs no input validation or shell escaping. If the script is invoked directly, by another orchestration system, or if future code changes pass string-sourced IPs, arbitrary commands can be injected. The correct fix is to replace exec() with file_put_contents() or use escapeshellarg() on all parameters.","publishedAt":"2026-05-26T00:00:00.000Z","updatedAt":"2026-05-27T17:23:49.636Z","severity":{"score":8.1,"label":"High","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N","source":"CISA-ADP"},"assigner":"mitre","products":["n/a n/a"],"affected":[{"vendor":"n/a","product":"n/a","versions":[{"version":"n/a","status":"affected"}]}],"references":["https://github.com/pavel-odintsov/fastnetmon","https://github.com/pavel-odintsov/fastnetmon/blob/master/src/juniper_plugin/fastnetmon_juniper.php","https://lorikeetsecurity.com/blog/fastnetmon-cve-2026-48687-juniper-cmd-injection"],"weaknesses":["CWE-78"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:12:07.131Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/48xxx/CVE-2026-48687.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-48687","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-05-26T00:00:00.000Z","dateUpdated":"2026-05-27T17:23:49.636Z","assignerShortName":"mitre","assignerOrgId":"8254265b-2729-46b6-b9e3-3dfca2d5bfca","dateReserved":"2026-05-22T00:00:00.000Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"FastNetMon Community Edition through 1.2.9 contains an OS command injection vulnerability in the Juniper router integration plugin.
