{"id":"CVE-2026-47425","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"Rattler vulnerable to entry-point path traversal in noarch:python install (arbitrary file write)","description":"Rattler is a library that provides common functionality used within the conda ecosystem. Prior to version 0.43.2, `EntryPoint::FromStr` in `rattler_conda_types` performs only `.trim()` on the `command` field before the linker joins it onto the install prefix and writes an executable Python script. A malicious `noarch:python` package can ship an `info/link.json` with an entry-point name containing `..`, `/`, `\\`, or an absolute path; the resulting file is written outside the prefix (or clobbers an existing in-prefix entry-point such as `bin/pip`) with mode `0o775` on Unix and a copied launcher `.exe` on Windows. This affects the default install path of `pixi install`, `mamba install` via py-rattler, `rattler-build`, and any other consumer of the `rattler` install crate; no flag or post-link-script opt-in is involved. Version 0.43.2 contains a fix for the issue.","publishedAt":"2026-07-21T17:47:40.995Z","updatedAt":"2026-07-23T14:20:36.413Z","severity":{"score":6.9,"label":"Medium","version":"4.0","vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:H/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","source":"GitHub_M"},"assigner":"GitHub_M","products":["conda rattler","conda py-rattler","conda rattler-build","prefix-dev pixi"],"affected":[{"vendor":"conda","product":"rattler","versions":[{"version":"< 0.43.2","status":"affected"}]},{"vendor":"conda","product":"py-rattler","versions":[{"version":"< 0.24.0","status":"affected"}]},{"vendor":"conda","product":"rattler-build","versions":[{"version":"< 0.65.0","status":"affected"}]},{"vendor":"prefix-dev","product":"pixi","versions":[{"version":"< 0.69.0","status":"affected"}]}],"references":["https://github.com/conda/rattler/security/advisories/GHSA-q53q-5r4j-5729","https://github.com/conda/rattler/commit/4f06eca89aa13209774d26dbac077c41b72bac7c"],"weaknesses":["CWE-22","CWE-73"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:12:07.131Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/47xxx/CVE-2026-47425.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-47425","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-07-21T17:47:40.995Z","dateUpdated":"2026-07-23T14:20:36.413Z","assignerShortName":"GitHub_M","assignerOrgId":"a0819718-46f1-4df5-94e2-005712e83aaa","dateReserved":"2026-05-19T19:37:43.526Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"Rattler vulnerable to entry-point path traversal in noarch:python install (arbitrary file write)","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"Rattler is a library that provides common functionality used within the conda ecosystem.
