{"id":"CVE-2026-46618","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"Fission builder accepts arbitrary buildcmd strings from Environment.spec.builder.command, allowing the builder pod to invoke arbitrary executables","description":"Fission is an open-source, Kubernetes-native serverless framework that simplifies the deployment of functions and applications on Kubernetes. Prior to version 1.23.0, before the round-1 security sweep, pkg/builder/builder.go passed Environment.spec.builder.command directly into exec.Command(...) after a strings.Fields split, with no validation of the executable path or its arguments. A user who could create or update Environment CRDs in a namespace observed by the buildermgr could thereby point the builder pod at any executable inside the builder image (e.g. /bin/sh -c '...') and execute arbitrary code in the builder pod context. This issue has been patched in version 1.23.0.","publishedAt":"2026-06-10T17:20:53.216Z","updatedAt":"2026-06-10T19:31:13.669Z","severity":{"score":6.9,"label":"Medium","version":"4.0","vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:L/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","source":"GitHub_M"},"assigner":"GitHub_M","products":["fission fission"],"affected":[{"vendor":"fission","product":"fission","versions":[{"version":"< 1.23.0","status":"affected"}]}],"references":["https://github.com/fission/fission/security/advisories/GHSA-7pjr-qpvh-m339","https://github.com/fission/fission/pull/3364","https://github.com/fission/fission/releases/tag/v1.23.0"],"weaknesses":["CWE-78","CWE-250","CWE-269"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:12:07.131Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/46xxx/CVE-2026-46618.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-46618","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-06-10T17:20:53.216Z","dateUpdated":"2026-06-10T19:31:13.669Z","assignerShortName":"GitHub_M","assignerOrgId":"a0819718-46f1-4df5-94e2-005712e83aaa","dateReserved":"2026-05-15T19:34:14.012Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"Fission builder accepts arbitrary buildcmd strings from Environment.spec.builder.command, allowing the builder pod to invoke arbitrary executables","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"Fission is an open-source, Kubernetes-native serverless framework that simplifies the deployment of functions and applications on Kubernetes.
