This means that during removal, there is a race\ncondition where an interrupt can fire just _after_ the `power_supply`\nhandle has been freed, *but* just _before_ the corresponding\nunregistration of the IRQ handler has run.\n\nThis will lead to the IRQ handler calling `power_supply_changed()` with\na freed `power_supply` handle. Which usually crashes the system or\notherwise silently corrupts the memory...\n\nNote that there is a similar situation which can also happen during\n`probe()`; the possibility of an interrupt firing _before_ registering\nthe `power_supply` handle. This would then lead to the nasty situation\nof using the `power_supply` handle *uninitialized* in\n`power_supply_changed()`.\n\nFix this racy use-after-free by making sure the IRQ is requested _after_\nthe registration of the `power_supply` handle.","publishedAt":"2026-05-27T12:17:16.142Z","updatedAt":"2026-05-27T12:17:16.142Z","severity":null,"assigner":"Linux","products":["Linux Linux"],"affected":[{"vendor":"Linux","product":"Linux","defaultStatus":"unaffected","versions":[{"version":"4b6b6433a97d5863b5340fc87f866d784fdf0783","status":"affected","lessThan":"1bdefeed904f1f17e1f73a4d8a035515f3a9fad8","versionType":"git"},{"version":"4b6b6433a97d5863b5340fc87f866d784fdf0783","status":"affected","lessThan":"838767f5074700552d3f006d867caed65edc7328","versionType":"git"}],"repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["drivers/power/supply/pf1550-charger.c"]},{"vendor":"Linux","product":"Linux","defaultStatus":"affected","versions":[{"version":"6.19","status":"affected"},{"version":"0","status":"unaffected","lessThan":"6.19","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"6.19.4","status":"unaffected","lessThanOrEqual":"6.19.*","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"7.0","status":"unaffected","lessThanOrEqual":"*","versionType":"original_commit_for_fix"}],"repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["drivers/power/supply/pf1550-charger.c"]}],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/1bdefeed904f1f17e1f73a4d8a035515f3a9fad8","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/838767f5074700552d3f006d867caed65edc7328"],"weaknesses":[],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:12:07.131Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/45xxx/CVE-2026-45906.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-45906","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-05-27T12:17:16.142Z","dateUpdated":"2026-05-27T12:17:16.142Z","assignerShortName":"Linux","assignerOrgId":"416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67","dateReserved":"2026-05-13T15:03:33.084Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"power: supply: pf1550: Fix use-after-free in power_supply_changed()","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:\n\npower: supply: pf1550: Fix use-after-free in power_supply_changed()\n\nUsing the `devm_` variant for requesting IRQ _before_ the `devm_`\nvariant for allocating/registering the `power_supply` handle, means that\nthe `power_supply` handle will be deallocated/unregistered _before_ the\ninterrupt handler (since `devm_` naturally deallocates in reverse\nallocation order).
