{"id":"CVE-2026-44195","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"OPNsense: Authentication lockout bypass","description":"OPNsense is a FreeBSD based firewall and routing platform. Prior to 26.1.7, a logic flaw in the OPNsense lockout_handler allows an unauthenticated attacker to continuously reset the authentication failure counter for their IP address. By interjecting a crafted username containing a success keyword (\"Accepted\" or \"Successful login\") between normal brute-force attempts, an attacker can prevent the failure counter from ever reaching the lockout threshold. This vulnerability is fixed in 26.1.7.","publishedAt":"2026-05-13T21:52:42.373Z","updatedAt":"2026-05-14T13:46:30.721Z","severity":{"score":5.3,"label":"Medium","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N","source":"GitHub_M"},"assigner":"GitHub_M","products":["opnsense core"],"affected":[{"vendor":"opnsense","product":"core","versions":[{"version":"< 26.1.7","status":"affected"}]}],"references":["https://github.com/opnsense/core/security/advisories/GHSA-h3vx-4q27-rc42","https://gist.github.com/sopex/b9786e72e2a5d9b1bbd81ed8477c351b"],"weaknesses":["CWE-307"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:11:57.932Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/44xxx/CVE-2026-44195.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-44195","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-05-13T21:52:42.373Z","dateUpdated":"2026-05-14T13:46:30.721Z","assignerShortName":"GitHub_M","assignerOrgId":"a0819718-46f1-4df5-94e2-005712e83aaa","dateReserved":"2026-05-05T15:13:47.570Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"OPNsense: Authentication lockout bypass","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"OPNsense is a FreeBSD based firewall and routing platform.
