- The vulnerable nf_tables netdev hook path is reached through local NETLINK_NETFILTER/nfnetlink configuration messages and local netdevice lifecycle operations, not by remote packets alone.\nAC:L - The attacker can create/update nftables netdev hooks and create/unregister matching devices from controlled local threads; any race/timing involved is attacker-controlled and repeatable.\nPR:L - nfnetlink requires CAP_NET_ADMIN over the target network namespace, but nftables/netfilter and netdevice operations are reachable by an unprivileged local user via user and network namespaces on affected deployments.\nUI:N - No victim action is required after the attacker has local execution; the attacker sends netlink requests and triggers device unregister/release paths directly.\nS:U - The bug corrupts kernel/netfilter state within the same kernel security authority; it is a standard local kernel privilege escalation/DoS class issue, not a VM or sandbox boundary change.\nC:H - The flaw leaves stale nf_hook_ops entries referencing a freed net_device, producing a use-after-free; per kernel scoring guidance, UAF conditions are treated as capable of high confidentiality impact.\nI:H - The stale hook/device pointer can be driven through unregister paths after attacker-controlled freeing and heap reuse, making this a kernel UAF with potential write/control-flow exploitation.\nA:H - The syzbot report shows a KASAN use-after-free in nf_hook_entry_head during hook unregister, and the condition can crash/oops the kernel."}]}],"providerMetadata":{"shortName":"Linux","orgId":"416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67","dateUpdated":"2026-08-05T12:28:02.179Z"},"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.16","versionEndExcluding":"6.18.19"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.16","versionEndExcluding":"6.19.9"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.16","versionEndExcluding":"7.0"}]}]}],"x_generator":{"engine":"bippy-1.2.0"}}}}}
