{"id":"CVE-2026-4089","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"Twittee Text Tweet <= 1.0.8 - Authenticated (Contributor+) Stored Cross-Site Scripting via 'id' Shortcode Attribute","description":"The Twittee Text Tweet plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'id' shortcode attribute in all versions up to and including 1.0.8. This is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied shortcode attributes. The ttt_twittee_tweeter() function uses extract() to pull shortcode attributes into local variables and then directly concatenates them into HTML output without any escaping. Specifically, the $id parameter is inserted into an HTML id attribute context without esc_attr(), allowing an attacker to break out of the attribute and inject arbitrary HTML event handlers. Additionally, the $tweet, $content, $balloon, and $theme attributes are similarly injected into inline JavaScript without escaping (lines 87, 93, 101, 117). This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.","publishedAt":"2026-04-22T07:45:35.056Z","updatedAt":"2026-04-22T14:05:17.972Z","severity":{"score":6.4,"label":"Medium","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","source":"Wordfence"},"assigner":"Wordfence","products":["johnnie2u Twittee Text Tweet"],"affected":[{"vendor":"johnnie2u","product":"Twittee Text Tweet","defaultStatus":"unaffected","versions":[{"version":"0","status":"affected","lessThanOrEqual":"1.0.8","versionType":"semver"}]}],"references":["https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/4d678e97-f466-4640-83ee-a3a24550e8d8?source=cve","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/twittee-text-tweet/trunk/ttt-twittee-text-tweet.php#L87","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/twittee-text-tweet/tags/1.0.8/ttt-twittee-text-tweet.php#L87","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/twittee-text-tweet/trunk/ttt-twittee-text-tweet.php#L55","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/twittee-text-tweet/tags/1.0.8/ttt-twittee-text-tweet.php#L55"],"weaknesses":["CWE-79"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:12:16.098Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/4xxx/CVE-2026-4089.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-4089","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-04-22T07:45:35.056Z","dateUpdated":"2026-04-22T14:05:17.972Z","assignerShortName":"Wordfence","assignerOrgId":"b15e7b5b-3da4-40ae-a43c-f7aa60e62599","dateReserved":"2026-03-12T21:03:18.626Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"Twittee Text Tweet <= 1.0.8 - Authenticated (Contributor+) Stored Cross-Site Scripting via 'id' Shortcode Attribute","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"The Twittee Text Tweet plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'id' shortcode attribute in all versions up to and including 1.0.8.
