{"id":"CVE-2026-40484","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"ChurchCRM: Authenticated Remote Code Execution via Unrestricted PHP File Write in Database Restore Function","description":"ChurchCRM is an open-source church management system. In versions prior to 7.2.0, the database backup restore functionality extracts uploaded archive contents and copies files from the Images/ directory into the web-accessible document root using recursiveCopyDirectory(), which performs no file extension filtering. An authenticated administrator can upload a crafted backup archive containing a PHP webshell inside the Images/ directory, which is then written to a publicly accessible path and executable via HTTP requests, resulting in remote code execution as the web server user. The restore endpoint also lacks CSRF token validation, enabling exploitation through cross-site request forgery targeting an authenticated administrator. This issue has been fixed in version 7.2.0.","publishedAt":"2026-04-17T23:25:06.319Z","updatedAt":"2026-04-20T14:56:29.684Z","severity":{"score":9.1,"label":"Critical","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H","source":"GitHub_M"},"assigner":"GitHub_M","products":["ChurchCRM CRM"],"affected":[{"vendor":"ChurchCRM","product":"CRM","versions":[{"version":"< 7.2.0","status":"affected"}]}],"references":["https://github.com/ChurchCRM/CRM/security/advisories/GHSA-2932-77f9-62fx","https://github.com/ChurchCRM/CRM/pull/8610","https://github.com/ChurchCRM/CRM/commit/68be1d12bc4cc1429575ae797ef05efe47030d39"],"weaknesses":["CWE-269","CWE-434","CWE-552"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:11:57.932Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/40xxx/CVE-2026-40484.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-40484","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-04-17T23:25:06.319Z","dateUpdated":"2026-04-20T14:56:29.684Z","assignerShortName":"GitHub_M","assignerOrgId":"a0819718-46f1-4df5-94e2-005712e83aaa","dateReserved":"2026-04-13T19:50:42.114Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"ChurchCRM: Authenticated Remote Code Execution via Unrestricted PHP File Write in Database Restore Function","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"ChurchCRM is an open-source church management system.
