{"id":"CVE-2026-32945","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"PJSIP is vulnerable to Heap-based Buffer Overflow through DNS parser","description":"PJSIP is a free and open source multimedia communication library written in C. Versions 2.16 and below have a Heap-based Buffer Overflowvulnerability in the DNS parser's name length handler. Thisimpacts applications using PJSIP's built-in DNS resolver, such as those configured with pjsua_config.nameserver or UaConfig.nameserver in PJSUA/PJSUA2. It does not affect users who rely on the OS resolver (e.g., getaddrinfo()) by not configuring a nameserver, or those using an external resolver via pjsip_resolver_set_ext_resolver(). This issue is fixed in version 2.17. For users unable to upgrade, a workaround is to disable DNS resolution in the PJSIP config (by setting nameserver_count to zero) or to use an external resolver implementation instead.","publishedAt":"2026-03-20T03:54:00.813Z","updatedAt":"2026-03-20T14:28:15.761Z","severity":{"score":8.4,"label":"High","version":"4.0","vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:H/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:L/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","source":"GitHub_M"},"assigner":"GitHub_M","products":["pjsip pjproject"],"affected":[{"vendor":"pjsip","product":"pjproject","versions":[{"version":"< 2.17","status":"affected"}]}],"references":["https://github.com/pjsip/pjproject/security/advisories/GHSA-jr2p-p2w4-rr9q","https://github.com/pjsip/pjproject/commit/5311aee398ae9d623829a6bad7b679a193c9e199"],"weaknesses":["CWE-122"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:11:40.391Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/32xxx/CVE-2026-32945.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-32945","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-03-20T03:54:00.813Z","dateUpdated":"2026-03-20T14:28:15.761Z","assignerShortName":"GitHub_M","assignerOrgId":"a0819718-46f1-4df5-94e2-005712e83aaa","dateReserved":"2026-03-17T00:05:53.283Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"PJSIP is vulnerable to Heap-based Buffer Overflow through DNS parser","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"PJSIP is a free and open source multimedia communication library written in C.
