{"id":"CVE-2026-31871","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"Parse Server has a SQL Injection via dot-notation sub-key name in `Increment` operation on PostgreSQL","description":"Parse Server is an open source backend that can be deployed to any infrastructure that can run Node.js. Prior to 9.6.0-alpha.5 and 8.6.31, a SQL injection vulnerability exists in the PostgreSQL storage adapter when processing Increment operations on nested object fields using dot notation (e.g., stats.counter). The sub-key name is interpolated directly into SQL string literals without escaping. An attacker who can send write requests to the Parse Server REST API can inject arbitrary SQL via a crafted sub-key name containing single quotes, potentially executing commands or reading data from the database, bypassing CLPs and ACLs. Only Postgres deployments are affected. This vulnerability is fixed in 9.6.0-alpha.5 and 8.6.31.","publishedAt":"2026-03-11T18:01:16.804Z","updatedAt":"2026-03-12T20:09:53.852Z","severity":{"score":9.3,"label":"Critical","version":"4.0","vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","source":"GitHub_M"},"assigner":"GitHub_M","products":["parse-community parse-server"],"affected":[{"vendor":"parse-community","product":"parse-server","versions":[{"version":">= 9.0.0 < 9.6.0-alpha.5","status":"affected"},{"version":"< 8.6.31","status":"affected"}]}],"references":["https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/security/advisories/GHSA-gqpp-xgvh-9h7h","https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/releases/tag/8.6.31","https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/releases/tag/9.6.0-alpha.5"],"weaknesses":["CWE-89"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:11:40.391Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/31xxx/CVE-2026-31871.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-31871","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-03-11T18:01:16.804Z","dateUpdated":"2026-03-12T20:09:53.852Z","assignerShortName":"GitHub_M","assignerOrgId":"a0819718-46f1-4df5-94e2-005712e83aaa","dateReserved":"2026-03-09T19:02:25.014Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"Parse Server has a SQL Injection via dot-notation sub-key name in `Increment` operation on PostgreSQL","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"Parse Server is an open source backend that can be deployed to any infrastructure that can run Node.js.
