{"id":"CVE-2026-31840","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"Parse Server has a SQL injection via dot-notation field name in PostgreSQL","description":"Parse Server is an open source backend that can be deployed to any infrastructure that can run Node.js. Prior to 9.6.0-alpha.2 and 8.6.28, an attacker can use a dot-notation field name in combination with the sort query parameter to inject SQL into the PostgreSQL database through an improper escaping of sub-field values in dot-notation queries. The vulnerability may also affect queries that use dot-notation field names with the distinct and where query parameters. This vulnerability only affects deployments using a PostgreSQL database. This vulnerability is fixed in 9.6.0-alpha.2 and 8.6.28.","publishedAt":"2026-03-11T16:53:17.164Z","updatedAt":"2026-03-11T17:38:08.164Z","severity":{"score":9.3,"label":"Critical","version":"4.0","vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","source":"GitHub_M"},"assigner":"GitHub_M","products":["parse-community parse-server"],"affected":[{"vendor":"parse-community","product":"parse-server","versions":[{"version":">= 9.0.0 < 9.6.0-alpha.2","status":"affected"},{"version":"< 8.6.28","status":"affected"}]}],"references":["https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/security/advisories/GHSA-qpr4-jrj4-6f27","https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/releases/tag/8.6.28","https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/releases/tag/9.6.0-alpha.2"],"weaknesses":["CWE-89"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:11:40.391Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/31xxx/CVE-2026-31840.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-31840","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-03-11T16:53:17.164Z","dateUpdated":"2026-03-11T17:38:08.164Z","assignerShortName":"GitHub_M","assignerOrgId":"a0819718-46f1-4df5-94e2-005712e83aaa","dateReserved":"2026-03-09T17:41:56.078Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"Parse Server has a SQL injection via dot-notation field name in PostgreSQL","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"Parse Server is an open source backend that can be deployed to any infrastructure that can run Node.js.
