{"id":"CVE-2026-3141","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"FormGent <= 1.9.2- Missing Authorization to Unauthenticated Arbitrary File Deletion via 'file_token' Parameter","description":"The FormGent plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized arbitrary file deletion due to a missing capability check on the /wp-json/formgent/responses/attachments REST API endpoint in all versions up to, and including, 1.9.2 This is due to the REST API route being registered without any authentication middleware in routes/rest/api.php. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to delete arbitrary files within the formgent uploads directory. Additionally, on Linux servers where the wp-content/uploads/formgent directory does not yet exist (the default state after plugin installation), the path traversal protection can be bypassed, enabling deletion of arbitrary files including wp-config.php which can lead to complete site takeover via a fresh WordPress installation.","publishedAt":"2026-08-01T05:33:54.681Z","updatedAt":"2026-08-03T17:11:26.854Z","severity":{"score":9.1,"label":"Critical","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:H","source":"Wordfence"},"assigner":"Wordfence","products":["wpwax FormGent – Next-Gen AI Form Builder for WordPress with Multi-Step, Quizzes, Payments & More"],"affected":[{"vendor":"wpwax","product":"FormGent – Next-Gen AI Form Builder for WordPress with Multi-Step, Quizzes, Payments & More","defaultStatus":"unaffected","versions":[{"version":"0","status":"affected","lessThanOrEqual":"1.9.2","versionType":"semver"}]}],"references":["https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/097a9d0f-fa38-4fdc-9048-43dd65e7652c?source=cve","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/formgent/tags/1.3.1/app/Http/Controllers/AttachmentController.php#L59","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/formgent/trunk/app/Http/Controllers/AttachmentController.php#L59","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/formgent/tags/1.3.1/routes/rest/api.php#L27","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/formgent/trunk/routes/rest/api.php#L27","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?old_path=%2Fformgent/tags/1.9.2&new_path=%2Fformgent/tags/1.10.0","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/3604540/formgent/trunk/app/Http/Controllers/AttachmentController.php"],"weaknesses":["CWE-862"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:11:50.837Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/3xxx/CVE-2026-3141.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-3141","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-08-01T05:33:54.681Z","dateUpdated":"2026-08-03T17:11:26.854Z","assignerShortName":"Wordfence","assignerOrgId":"b15e7b5b-3da4-40ae-a43c-f7aa60e62599","dateReserved":"2026-02-24T18:51:13.671Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"FormGent <= 1.9.2- Missing Authorization to Unauthenticated Arbitrary File Deletion via 'file_token' Parameter","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"The FormGent plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized arbitrary file deletion due to a missing capability check on the /wp-json/formgent/responses/attachments REST API endpoint in all versions up to, and including, 1.9.2 This is due to the REST API route being registered without any authentication middleware in routes/rest/api.php.
