{"id":"CVE-2026-18663","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"389-ds-base: 389-ds-base: pre-authentication double-free in get_ldapmessage_controls_ext() via critical session tracking control","description":"A flaw was found in 389-ds-base. The get_ldapmessage_controls_ext() function frees the parsed controls array on the Session Tracking critical-control rejection path without clearing the SLAPI_REQCONTROLS pblock slot. Operation teardown then frees the same pointer again, causing a double-free. An unauthenticated remote attacker can trigger this with a single BIND request carrying a critical Session Tracking control, resulting in heap corruption and potential denial of service.","publishedAt":"2026-08-12T09:35:26.681Z","updatedAt":"2026-08-13T15:41:09.335Z","severity":{"score":5.9,"label":"Medium","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","source":"redhat"},"assigner":"redhat","products":["Red Hat Red Hat Directory Server 11","Red Hat Red Hat Directory Server 12","Red Hat Red Hat Directory Server 13","Red Hat Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10","Red Hat Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6","Red Hat Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7","Red Hat Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8","Red Hat Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9"],"affected":[{"vendor":"Red Hat","product":"Red Hat Directory Server 11","packageName":"redhat-ds:11/389-ds-base","defaultStatus":"unaffected","collectionURL":"https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/package-browser/","cpes":["cpe:/a:redhat:directory_server:11"]},{"vendor":"Red Hat","product":"Red Hat Directory Server 12","packageName":"redhat-ds:12/389-ds-base","defaultStatus":"unaffected","collectionURL":"https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/package-browser/","cpes":["cpe:/a:redhat:directory_server:12"]},{"vendor":"Red Hat","product":"Red Hat Directory Server 13","packageName":"389-ds-base","defaultStatus":"affected","collectionURL":"https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/package-browser/","cpes":["cpe:/a:redhat:directory_server:13"]},{"vendor":"Red Hat","product":"Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10","packageName":"389-ds-base","defaultStatus":"affected","collectionURL":"https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/package-browser/","cpes":["cpe:/o:redhat:enterprise_linux:10"]},{"vendor":"Red Hat","product":"Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6","packageName":"389-ds-base","defaultStatus":"unaffected","collectionURL":"https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/package-browser/","cpes":["cpe:/o:redhat:enterprise_linux:6"]},{"vendor":"Red Hat","product":"Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7","packageName":"389-ds-base","defaultStatus":"unaffected","collectionURL":"https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/package-browser/","cpes":["cpe:/o:redhat:enterprise_linux:7"]},{"vendor":"Red Hat","product":"Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8","packageName":"389-ds:1.4/389-ds-base","defaultStatus":"unaffected","collectionURL":"https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/package-browser/","cpes":["cpe:/o:redhat:enterprise_linux:8"]},{"vendor":"Red Hat","product":"Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9","packageName":"389-ds-base","defaultStatus":"unaffected","collectionURL":"https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/package-browser/","cpes":["cpe:/o:redhat:enterprise_linux:9"]}],"references":["https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-18663","https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2510631"],"weaknesses":["CWE-415"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:11:10.572Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/18xxx/CVE-2026-18663.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-18663","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-08-12T09:35:26.681Z","dateUpdated":"2026-08-13T15:41:09.335Z","assignerShortName":"redhat","assignerOrgId":"53f830b8-0a3f-465b-8143-3b8a9948e749","dateReserved":"2026-08-03T13:22:45.359Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"389-ds-base: 389-ds-base: pre-authentication double-free in get_ldapmessage_controls_ext() via critical session tracking control","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"A flaw was found in 389-ds-base.
