{"id":"CVE-2026-109215","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"LiteSpeed Cache <= 7.9.1 - Authenticated (Subscriber+) Stored Cross-Site Scripting via VPI Image Attribute Re-Serialization","description":"The LiteSpeed Cache plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'bbp_reply_content' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 7.9.1 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. Exploitation requires that an administrator has enabled Viewport Images (VPI) and configured a VPI filename that matches an image the attacker can embed in user-generated content — such as a bbPress topic where Subscriber-level Participants are permitted to post replies containing raw img tags.","publishedAt":"2026-10-29T09:25:35.290Z","updatedAt":"2026-10-29T10:45:41.071Z","severity":{"score":6.4,"label":"Medium","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","source":"Wordfence"},"assigner":"Wordfence","products":["litespeedtech LiteSpeed Cache"],"affected":[{"vendor":"litespeedtech","product":"LiteSpeed Cache","defaultStatus":"unaffected","versions":[{"version":"0","status":"affected","lessThanOrEqual":"7.9.1","versionType":"semver"}]}],"references":["https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/8bf9b130-bb1e-43fc-b5c9-337646b8976e?source=cve","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/litespeed-cache/tags/7.9.1/src/media.cls.php#L968","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/litespeed-cache/tags/7.9.1/src/media.cls.php#L936","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/litespeed-cache/tags/7.9.1/src/utility.cls.php#L299","https://github.com/litespeedtech/lscache_wp/commit/0fc5f9ad69a138b8ee1fe2d07a5e9ac2574e1eb0","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/litespeed-cache/tags/7.9.2/src/media.cls.php"],"weaknesses":["CWE-79"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:10:33.477Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/109xxx/CVE-2026-109215.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-109215","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-10-29T09:25:35.290Z","dateUpdated":"2026-10-29T10:45:41.071Z","assignerShortName":"Wordfence","assignerOrgId":"b15e7b5b-3da4-40ae-a43c-f7aa60e62599","dateReserved":"2026-10-12T13:39:03.783Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"LiteSpeed Cache <= 7.9.1 - Authenticated (Subscriber+) Stored Cross-Site Scripting via VPI Image Attribute Re-Serialization","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"The LiteSpeed Cache plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'bbp_reply_content' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 7.9.1 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping.
