{"id":"CVE-2026-107937","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"Apache CXF: The attachment header size and count limits can be bypassed, which allows denial of service through memory exhaustion.","description":"In Apache CXF, the parser for multipart/MTOM attachment part headers did not fully enforce the configured attachment-max-header-size (default 300 characters) and attachment-headers-max-count (default 500) limits. The size limit was applied only to each physical line, not to a header value built from continuation lines or to the combined values of a repeated header. The count limit was checked against the number of distinct header names, not the total number of header lines. A remote, unauthenticated attacker could send a multipart request with very large folded or repeated part headers. The server would then allocate memory without bound, causing a denial of service. \nUsers are recommended to upgrade to versions 4.2.4 or 4.1.9 or 3.6.13, which fix this issue.","publishedAt":"2026-10-09T10:19:53.377Z","updatedAt":"2026-10-15T17:45:25.955Z","severity":{"score":7.5,"label":"High","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","source":"CISA-ADP"},"assigner":"apache","products":["Apache Software Foundation Apache CXF"],"affected":[{"vendor":"Apache Software Foundation","product":"Apache CXF","packageName":"org.apache.cxf:cxf-core","packageURL":"pkg:maven/org.apache.cxf/cxf-core","defaultStatus":"unaffected","versions":[{"version":"4.2.0","status":"affected","lessThan":"4.2.4","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"4.0.0","status":"affected","lessThan":"4.1.9","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"0","status":"affected","lessThan":"3.6.13","versionType":"semver"}],"collectionURL":"https://repo.maven.apache.org/maven2"}],"references":["https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/x9twtpv3d04qj83t6w9xkh9y2q28zztj","http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2026/10/09/12"],"weaknesses":["CWE-770"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:10:23.711Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2026/107xxx/CVE-2026-107937.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2026-107937","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-10-09T10:19:53.377Z","dateUpdated":"2026-10-15T17:45:25.955Z","assignerShortName":"apache","assignerOrgId":"f0158376-9dc2-43b6-827c-5f631a4d8d09","dateReserved":"2026-10-09T09:12:15.139Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"Apache CXF: The attachment header size and count limits can be bypassed, which allows denial of service through memory exhaustion.","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"In Apache CXF, the parser for multipart/MTOM attachment part headers did not fully enforce the configured attachment-max-header-size (default 300 characters) and attachment-headers-max-count (default 500) limits.
