{"id":"CVE-2025-8625","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"Copypress Rest API 1.1 - 1.2 - Missing Configurable JWT Secret and File-Type Validation to Unauthenticated Remote Code Execution","description":"The Copypress Rest API plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Remote Code Execution via copyreap_handle_image() Function in versions 1.1 to 1.2. The plugin falls back to a hard-coded JWT signing key when no secret is defined and does not restrict which file types can be fetched and saved as attachments. As a result, unauthenticated attackers can forge a valid token to gain elevated privileges and upload an arbitrary file (e.g. a PHP script) through the image handler, leading to remote code execution.","publishedAt":"2025-09-30T03:35:25.180Z","updatedAt":"2025-09-30T13:24:27.012Z","severity":{"score":9.8,"label":"Critical","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","source":"Wordfence"},"assigner":"Wordfence","products":["copypressdev Copypress Rest API"],"affected":[{"vendor":"copypressdev","product":"Copypress Rest API","defaultStatus":"unaffected","versions":[{"version":"1.1","status":"affected","lessThanOrEqual":"1.2","versionType":"semver"}]}],"references":["https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/3045c9e5-4095-48e5-8d9d-16a091e69d54?source=cve","https://wordpress.org/plugins/copypress-rest-api/#developers"],"weaknesses":["CWE-321"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:10:04.440Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2025/8xxx/CVE-2025-8625.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.1","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2025-8625","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2025-09-30T03:35:25.180Z","dateUpdated":"2025-09-30T13:24:27.012Z","assignerShortName":"Wordfence","assignerOrgId":"b15e7b5b-3da4-40ae-a43c-f7aa60e62599","dateReserved":"2025-08-05T21:49:23.989Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"Copypress Rest API 1.1 - 1.2 - Missing Configurable JWT Secret and File-Type Validation to Unauthenticated Remote Code Execution","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"The Copypress Rest API plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Remote Code Execution via copyreap_handle_image() Function in versions 1.1 to 1.2.
