{"id":"CVE-2025-66448","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"vLLM vulnerable to remote code execution via transformers_utils/get_config","description":"vLLM is an inference and serving engine for large language models (LLMs). Prior to 0.11.1, vllm has a critical remote code execution vector in a config class named Nemotron_Nano_VL_Config. When vllm loads a model config that contains an auto_map entry, the config class resolves that mapping with get_class_from_dynamic_module(...) and immediately instantiates the returned class. This fetches and executes Python from the remote repository referenced in the auto_map string. Crucially, this happens even when the caller explicitly sets trust_remote_code=False in vllm.transformers_utils.config.get_config. In practice, an attacker can publish a benign-looking frontend repo whose config.json points via auto_map to a separate malicious backend repo; loading the frontend will silently run the backend’s code on the victim host. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.11.1.","publishedAt":"2025-12-01T22:45:42.566Z","updatedAt":"2025-12-02T14:14:58.324Z","severity":{"score":7.1,"label":"High","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:L/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","source":"GitHub_M"},"assigner":"GitHub_M","products":["vllm-project vllm"],"affected":[{"vendor":"vllm-project","product":"vllm","versions":[{"version":"< 0.11.1","status":"affected"}]}],"references":["https://github.com/vllm-project/vllm/security/advisories/GHSA-8fr4-5q9j-m8gm","https://github.com/vllm-project/vllm/pull/28126","https://github.com/vllm-project/vllm/commit/ffb08379d8870a1a81ba82b72797f196838d0c86"],"weaknesses":["CWE-94"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:09:56.034Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2025/66xxx/CVE-2025-66448.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2025-66448","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2025-12-01T22:45:42.566Z","dateUpdated":"2025-12-02T14:14:58.324Z","assignerShortName":"GitHub_M","assignerOrgId":"a0819718-46f1-4df5-94e2-005712e83aaa","dateReserved":"2025-12-01T18:22:06.865Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"vLLM vulnerable to remote code execution via transformers_utils/get_config","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"vLLM is an inference and serving engine for large language models (LLMs).
