By leaving JTAG enabled on an ESP32 in a commercial product an attacker with physical access to the device can connect over this port and reflash the device's firmware with malicious code which will be executed upon running. As a result, the victim will lose access to the functionality of their device and the attack may gain unauthorized access to the victim's Wi-Fi network by re-connecting to the SSID defined in the NVS partition of the device.","publishedAt":"2025-12-10T00:00:00.000Z","updatedAt":"2025-12-11T20:35:56.750Z","severity":{"score":6.8,"label":"Medium","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:P/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","source":"CISA-ADP"},"assigner":"mitre","products":["n/a n/a"],"affected":[{"vendor":"n/a","product":"n/a","versions":[{"version":"n/a","status":"affected"}]}],"references":["https://github.com/dead1nfluence/Meatmeet-Pro-Vulnerabilities/blob/main/Device/JTAG-Enabled.md","https://gist.github.com/dead1nfluence/4dffc239b4a460f41a03345fd8e5feb5#file-jtag-enabled-md"],"weaknesses":["CWE-1191"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:09:56.034Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2025/65xxx/CVE-2025-65822.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2025-65822","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2025-12-10T00:00:00.000Z","dateUpdated":"2025-12-11T20:35:56.750Z","assignerShortName":"mitre","assignerOrgId":"8254265b-2729-46b6-b9e3-3dfca2d5bfca","dateReserved":"2025-11-18T00:00:00.000Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"The ESP32 system on a chip (SoC) that powers the Meatmeet Pro was found to have JTAG enabled.
