When it encounters an extended partition entry in the partition table, it recursively calls itself to mount the next logical partition.\n\nThis recursion occurs in _ux_host_class_storage_partition_read(), which parses up to four partition entries. If an extended partition is found (with type UX_HOST_CLASS_STORAGE_PARTITION_EXTENDED or EXTENDED_LBA_MAPPED), the code invokes:\n _ux_host_class_storage_media_mount(storage, sector + _ux_utility_long_get(...));\n\n\nThere is no limit on the recursion depth or tracking of visited sectors. As a result, a malicious or malformed disk image can include cyclic or excessively deep chains of extended partitions, causing the function to recurse until stack overflow occurs.","publishedAt":"2026-01-27T15:34:47.755Z","updatedAt":"2026-01-27T15:58:14.494Z","severity":{"score":4.2,"label":"Medium","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:R/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:L","source":"eclipse"},"assigner":"eclipse","products":["Eclipse Foundation Eclipse ThreadX - USBX"],"affected":[{"vendor":"Eclipse Foundation","product":"Eclipse ThreadX - USBX","defaultStatus":"unaffected","versions":[{"version":"0","status":"affected","lessThanOrEqual":"6.4.2","versionType":"semver"}],"repo":"https://github.com/eclipse-threadx/usbx"}],"references":["https://github.com/eclipse-threadx/usbx/security/advisories/GHSA-qfmp-wch9-rpv2"],"weaknesses":["CWE-121","CWE-674"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:09:31.862Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2025/55xxx/CVE-2025-55095.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2025-55095","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2026-01-27T15:34:47.755Z","dateUpdated":"2026-01-27T15:58:14.494Z","assignerShortName":"eclipse","assignerOrgId":"e51fbebd-6053-4e49-959f-1b94eeb69a2c","dateReserved":"2025-08-06T18:56:43.458Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"The function _ux_host_class_storage_media_mount() is responsible for mounting partitions on a USB mass storage device.
