- The flaw lives in the cs42l43 SPI bridge probe path and is consumed by the on-board cs35l56 codec driver on the same machine; there is no network, adjacent-network, or removable-device ingress, so reaching it requires local presence on the affected laptop.\nAC:L - On affected hardware the array is unconditionally unterminated, so `property_entry_get()` reads out of bounds deterministically on every property lookup for the bridged amp — no race, timing window, or memory grooming is needed for the OOB access itself.\nPR:L - The OOB walk executes automatically during device probe with no attacker-supplied input, so an ordinary unprivileged local account on the machine is the lowest bar that meaningfully applies; no capability check gates the code path itself.\nUI:N - The bad software node is created and parsed during driver probe at boot or module load; no victim action such as opening a file or mounting a filesystem is required.\nS:U - The out-of-bounds read and any resulting fault are entirely within the kernel's own security authority — no hypervisor, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary is crossed.\nC:H - The walk is unbounded — it continues until it happens to find a zero `.name` — and passes attacker-uninfluenced heap words to `strcmp()` as pointers, producing an unbounded slab OOB read plus dereference of effectively arbitrary kernel addresses rather than a few strictly bounded bytes.\nI:L - There is no OOB write or OOB free (`property_entries_free()` is unreachable since the node is not `allocated`, and the memcpy is length-checked), but a bogus entry accepted from past-the-end memory can supply a wrong speaker ID that changes the DSP firmware file selected via `\"%04x%04x-spkid%d\"`, giving limited modification of driver state.\nA:H - Dereferencing the garbage `.name` pointer in `strcmp()` faults in kernel context, which is exactly the failure the commit and bugzilla 220371 describe — an oops during probe that leaves audio and potentially the boot unusable."}]}],"providerMetadata":{"shortName":"Linux","orgId":"416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67","dateUpdated":"2026-08-05T12:03:01.778Z"},"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.11","versionEndExcluding":"6.12.42"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.11","versionEndExcluding":"6.15.10"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.11","versionEndExcluding":"6.16.1"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.11","versionEndExcluding":"6.17"}]}]}],"x_generator":{"engine":"bippy-1.2.0"}}}}}
