{"id":"CVE-2025-34312","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"IPFire < v2.29 Command Injection via URL Filter Blacklist","description":"IPFire versions prior to 2.29 (Core Update 198) contain a command injection vulnerability that allows an authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary commands as the 'nobody' user via the BE_NAME parameter when installing a blacklist. When a blacklist is installed the application issues an HTTP POST to /cgi-bin/urlfilter.cgi and interpolates the value of BE_NAME directly into a shell invocation without appropriate sanitation. Crafted input can inject shell metacharacters, leading to arbitrary command execution in the context of the 'nobody' user.","publishedAt":"2025-10-28T14:37:47.417Z","updatedAt":"2025-10-28T15:17:00.706Z","severity":{"score":8.7,"label":"High","version":"4.0","vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","source":"VulnCheck"},"assigner":"VulnCheck","products":["IPFire.org IPFire"],"affected":[{"vendor":"IPFire.org","product":"IPFire","defaultStatus":"unaffected","versions":[{"version":"0","status":"affected","lessThan":"2.29 (Core Update 198)","versionType":"custom"}],"modules":["/cgi-bin/urlfilter.cgi"]}],"references":["https://www.ipfire.org/blog/ipfire-2-29-core-update-198-released","https://bugzilla.ipfire.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13887","https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/ipfire-command-injection-via-url-filter-blacklist"],"weaknesses":["CWE-78"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:09:03.054Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2025/34xxx/CVE-2025-34312.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.1","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2025-34312","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2025-10-28T14:37:47.417Z","dateUpdated":"2025-10-28T15:17:00.706Z","assignerShortName":"VulnCheck","assignerOrgId":"83251b91-4cc7-4094-a5c7-464a1b83ea10","dateReserved":"2025-04-15T19:15:22.583Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"IPFire < v2.29 Command Injection via URL Filter Blacklist","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"IPFire versions prior to 2.29 (Core Update 198) contain a command injection vulnerability that allows an authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary commands as the 'nobody' user via the BE_NAME parameter when installing a blacklist.
