{"id":"CVE-2025-34290","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"Versa SASE Client for Windows < 7.9.5 Arbitrary Folder Deletion Leading to Local Privilege Escalation","description":"Versa SASE Client for Windows versions released between 7.8.7 and 7.9.4 contain a local privilege escalation vulnerability in the audit log export functionality. The client communicates user-controlled file paths to a privileged service, which performs file system operations without impersonating the requesting user. Due to improper privilege handling and a time-of-check time-of-use race condition combined with symbolic link and mount point manipulation, a local authenticated attacker can coerce the service into deleting arbitrary directories with SYSTEM privileges. This can be exploited to delete protected system folders such as C:\\\\Config.msi and subsequently achieve execution as NT AUTHORITY\\\\SYSTEM via MSI rollback techniques.","publishedAt":"2025-12-20T20:01:42.552Z","updatedAt":"2025-12-22T16:17:23.123Z","severity":{"score":8.5,"label":"High","version":"4.0","vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","source":"VulnCheck"},"assigner":"VulnCheck","products":["Versa Networks SASE Client for Windows"],"affected":[{"vendor":"Versa Networks","product":"SASE Client for Windows","defaultStatus":"unaffected","versions":[{"version":"7.8.7","status":"affected","lessThan":"7.9.5","versionType":"semver"}],"platforms":["Windows"]}],"references":["https://security-portal.versa-networks.com/emailbulletins/69421e33d03aafc8e5bdaf21","https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/versa-sase-client-for-windows-arbitrary-file-deletion-leading-to-lpe"],"weaknesses":["CWE-250","CWE-367"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:09:03.054Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2025/34xxx/CVE-2025-34290.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2025-34290","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2025-12-20T20:01:42.552Z","dateUpdated":"2025-12-22T16:17:23.123Z","assignerShortName":"VulnCheck","assignerOrgId":"83251b91-4cc7-4094-a5c7-464a1b83ea10","dateReserved":"2025-04-15T19:15:22.581Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"Versa SASE Client for Windows < 7.9.5 Arbitrary Folder Deletion Leading to Local Privilege Escalation","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"Versa SASE Client for Windows versions released between 7.8.7 and 7.9.4 contain a local privilege escalation vulnerability in the audit log export functionality.
