no network protocol data is parsed here.\nAC:L - The attacker controls both sides of the race by generating sustained I/O load, which simultaneously drives UDS index query timeouts and exhausts the 2048-entry context pool — exactly the conditions that make query_index() take the early return that leaves the stale dedupe_context pointer live, and the attempt can be repeated indefinitely.\nPR:L - Any unprivileged local user with write access to a filesystem hosted on the VDO volume (the normal deployment) can generate the required I/O; no capability check guards the data path once the device exists.\nUI:N - Exploitation requires only the attacker's own I/O against an already-configured VDO device; no victim action is needed at exploit time.\nS:U - The corruption is confined to kernel memory and VDO state within the same security authority; no VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary is crossed.\nC:H - This is a use-after-release of a pooled object: the stale owner reads a recycled context's uds_request contents and follows context->requestor into another request's data_vio, and the resulting dedupe against an attacker-unrelated PBN can map a logical block onto another tenant's physical block, exposing its contents.\nI:H - Context stealing lets one request write dedupe advice into a different live data_vio, release a context still owned by another request, skew the unsigned zone->active counter, and take PBN locks/reference-count operations against an arbitrary physical block — corrupting both kernel structures and stored volume data.\nA:H - The stale pointer leads directly to a NULL/wild dereference of data_vio->duplicate.zone->thread_id (kernel oops), plus work-queue corruption from misdirected completions, the \"all contexts inactive\" assertion, and hung suspend/teardown of the storage device."}]}],"providerMetadata":{"shortName":"Linux","orgId":"416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67","dateUpdated":"2026-08-05T11:41:35.974Z"},"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.9","versionEndExcluding":"6.11.4"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.9","versionEndExcluding":"6.12"}]}]}],"x_generator":{"engine":"bippy-1.2.0"}},"adp":[{"title":"CISA ADP Vulnrichment","metrics":[{"cvssV3_1":{"scope":"UNCHANGED","version":"3.1","baseScore":5.5,"attackVector":"LOCAL","baseSeverity":"MEDIUM","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","integrityImpact":"NONE","userInteraction":"NONE","attackComplexity":"LOW","availabilityImpact":"HIGH","privilegesRequired":"LOW","confidentialityImpact":"NONE"}},{"other":{"type":"ssvc","content":{"id":"CVE-2024-50091","role":"CISA Coordinator","options":[{"Exploitation":"none"},{"Automatable":"no"},{"Technical Impact":"partial"}],"version":"2.0.3","timestamp":"2025-10-01T20:23:05.781358Z"}}}],"problemTypes":[{"descriptions":[{"lang":"en","type":"CWE","description":"CWE-noinfo Not enough information"}]}],"providerMetadata":{"shortName":"CISA-ADP","orgId":"134c704f-9b21-4f2e-91b3-4a467353bcc0","dateUpdated":"2025-10-01T20:27:19.950Z"}}]}}}
