The free is triggered by a local operation — driver unbind via sysfs, module unload, or a bind-induced probe failure — and the arming side is a local I2C touch controller; there is no network-reachable path to this driver.\nAC:L - The 100ms timer window can be attacked repeatedly by looping bind/unbind while the controller emits error frames, and the probe-failure variant leaves the timer armed deterministically during the multi-second vendor-query retry loop, so the attacker drives both sides of the race.\nPR:L - An unprivileged local user can reach the vulnerable object through the world-readable fw_version/model/type sysfs attributes that drive I2C vendor requests and touch-frame handling; consistent with kernel CNA precedent, driver unbind/remove UAFs of this class are scored at low privilege rather than root.\nUI:N - No victim action is required — the attacker performs the unbind/rebind itself, and the probe-failure variant fires autonomously when the controller misbehaves.\nS:U - The use-after-free is contained within the kernel's own security authority with no crossing of a VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary.\nC:H - The freed slab object is reallocatable, and the timer callback reads `data->input` and MT slot state out of freed memory, while `expire_timers()` reads the call target from it — giving a path to disclose arbitrary kernel memory.\nI:H - `fn = timer->function` is loaded from the freed object and immediately called, and `detach_timer()` performs hlist pointer writes through it, yielding a controlled indirect call and write primitive suitable for privilege escalation.\nA:H - Even unexploited, the dangling timer dereferences freed memory 100ms after unbind or probe failure, producing the UAF/Oops reported in the commit message and crashing the kernel."}]}],"providerMetadata":{"shortName":"Linux","orgId":"416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67","dateUpdated":"2026-10-30T12:17:32.625Z"},"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.15","versionEndExcluding":"5.15.224"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.15","versionEndExcluding":"6.1.20"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.15","versionEndExcluding":"6.2.3"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.15","versionEndExcluding":"6.3"}]}]}],"x_generator":{"engine":"bippy-1.2.0"}}}}}
