there is no network or adjacent-protocol path into this component-master bind/PM path.\nAC:L - Once mtk_drm_bind() has failed (including common deferred-probe EPROBE_DEFER failures while components assemble), private->drm remains a non-NULL freed pointer and the next system suspend deterministically enters drm_mode_config_helper_suspend() on that object with no race the attacker must win.\nPR:L - On the primary MediaTek deployments (phones, Chromebooks, embedded), an ordinary local user can be present while opportunistic/autosleep suspend runs the vulnerable prepare callback; reaching this path does not require capabilities that are only available in the init user namespace.\nUI:N - After the bind error leaves the dangling pointer, system autosuspend or an attacker-driven sleep transition invokes mtk_drm_sys_prepare() without any separate victim action such as opening a file or plugging a device.\nS:U - The use-after-free corrupts kernel heap state within the host kernel's security authority and does not cross a VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary.\nC:H - drm_dev_put() frees the kzalloc'd drm_device while private->drm still references it; suspend then reads many fields through that object (poll state, client suspend, atomic state), so heap reuse yields a use-after-free read primitive.\nI:H - The same freed drm_device is walked by drm_mode_config_helper_suspend()/drm_atomic_helper_suspend(), so spraying the reclaimed slab provides write and control-flow hijack primitives typical of large-object kernel UAFs.\nA:H - The fix commit and related KASAN reports document a kernel panic/oops when the dangling drm_device pointer is used on suspend/shutdown, which is a full availability loss."}]}],"providerMetadata":{"shortName":"Linux","orgId":"416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67","dateUpdated":"2026-08-05T09:13:51.568Z"},"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.7","versionEndExcluding":"4.19.276"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.7","versionEndExcluding":"5.4.235"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.7","versionEndExcluding":"5.10.173"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.7","versionEndExcluding":"5.15.99"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.7","versionEndExcluding":"6.1.16"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.7","versionEndExcluding":"6.2.3"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"4.7","versionEndExcluding":"6.3"}]}]}],"x_generator":{"engine":"bippy-1.2.0"}},"adp":[{"title":"CISA ADP Vulnrichment","metrics":[{"cvssV3_1":{"scope":"UNCHANGED","version":"3.1","baseScore":7.8,"attackVector":"LOCAL","baseSeverity":"HIGH","vectorString":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","integrityImpact":"HIGH","userInteraction":"NONE","attackComplexity":"LOW","availabilityImpact":"HIGH","privilegesRequired":"LOW","confidentialityImpact":"HIGH"}},{"other":{"type":"ssvc","content":{"id":"CVE-2023-53388","role":"CISA Coordinator","options":[{"Exploitation":"none"},{"Automatable":"no"},{"Technical Impact":"total"}],"version":"2.0.3","timestamp":"2026-01-14T18:58:21.448763Z"}}}],"problemTypes":[{"descriptions":[{"cweId":"CWE-416","lang":"en","type":"CWE","description":"CWE-416 Use After Free"}]}],"providerMetadata":{"shortName":"CISA-ADP","orgId":"134c704f-9b21-4f2e-91b3-4a467353bcc0","dateUpdated":"2026-01-14T19:03:05.206Z"}}]}}}
