the highest-impact case is an mt76x0 SoftAP/hotspot where an adjacent WiFi peer’s traffic drives VHT TX and the periodic cal_work path, matching Adjacent WiFi reachability used for similar mt76 SoftAP bugs.\nAC:L - On TSSI-enabled mt76x0 hardware, calibration runs on a fixed delayed-work interval and VHT MCS 2–9 indexing of the shrunk vht[2] array is deterministic once the radio is serving ordinary 802.11ac traffic; no attacker-uncontrollable race or rare debug config is required.\nPR:N - An adjacent client needs no host OS account or capability: open SoftAP/hotspot association plus data traffic is enough to cause the AP to TX VHT and exercise mt76x0_phy_get_target_power without authentication on the victim host.\nUI:N - Once SoftAP/hotspot is already running, the attacker triggers the path solely by associating and exchanging frames; no separate victim mount, open, or interactive step is required.\nS:U - The out-of-bounds access and resulting TX ALC mis-programming stay inside the host kernel WiFi driver authority and do not cross a VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary.\nC:L - This is a strictly bounded single-byte OOB read (vht[tx_rate] with tx_rate≤9 into a 2-element array, at most ~7 bytes past rate_power into the adjacent cal fields). Per guidance that is not C:H, but the stale byte is folded into HW-visible TX power, so confidentiality is Low rather than None.\nI:N - The defect is a pure out-of-bounds read; the derived value only updates in-bounds cal.tssi_target and a clamped TX ALC register write, with no OOB write, UAF, or control-flow hijack primitive.\nA:H - The wrong VHT rate-power byte can swing TX ALC compensation across its full clamped range on a live SoftAP, which can severely disrupt or deny wireless availability for associated clients, and under the required upward rule this is scored High."}]}],"providerMetadata":{"shortName":"Linux","orgId":"416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67","dateUpdated":"2026-08-05T08:59:00.865Z"},"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.2","versionEndExcluding":"6.2.3"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"6.2","versionEndExcluding":"6.3"}]}]}],"x_generator":{"engine":"bippy-1.2.0"}}}}}
