When these occur, the cache line is\nnot invalidated and potentially we get memory corruption. The\nproblem was hidden by the nullification of the flush instructions.\n\nThese faults also affect performance. With pa8800/pa8900 processors,\nthere will be 32 faults per 4 KB page since the cache line is 128\nbytes. There will be more faults with earlier processors.\n\nThe problem is fixed by using flush_cache_pages(). It does the flush\nusing a tmp alias mapping.\n\nThe flush_cache_pages() call in flush_cache_range() flushed too\nlarge a range.\n\nV2: Remove unnecessary preempt_disable() and preempt_enable() calls.","publishedAt":"2025-02-26T01:55:28.628Z","updatedAt":"2026-08-05T08:54:14.479Z","severity":{"score":7.8,"label":"High","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","source":"Linux"},"assigner":"Linux","products":["Linux Linux"],"affected":[{"vendor":"Linux","product":"Linux","defaultStatus":"unaffected","versions":[{"version":"1da177e4c3f41524e886b7f1b8a0c1fc7321cac2","status":"affected","lessThan":"b3d6adb3a49d82e4e557c5fc16f50c9ff731da5d","versionType":"git"},{"version":"1da177e4c3f41524e886b7f1b8a0c1fc7321cac2","status":"affected","lessThan":"ddca4b82027e2a66333dd40fab21a4beff435c7e","versionType":"git"},{"version":"1da177e4c3f41524e886b7f1b8a0c1fc7321cac2","status":"affected","lessThan":"f839e5f1cef36ce268950c387129b1bfefdaebc9","versionType":"git"}],"repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["arch/parisc/kernel/cache.c"]},{"vendor":"Linux","product":"Linux","defaultStatus":"affected","versions":[{"version":"2.6.12","status":"affected"},{"version":"0","status":"unaffected","lessThan":"2.6.12","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.16.19","status":"unaffected","lessThanOrEqual":"5.16.*","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.17.2","status":"unaffected","lessThanOrEqual":"5.17.*","versionType":"semver"},{"version":"5.18","status":"unaffected","lessThanOrEqual":"*","versionType":"original_commit_for_fix"}],"repo":"https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git","programFiles":["arch/parisc/kernel/cache.c"]}],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/b3d6adb3a49d82e4e557c5fc16f50c9ff731da5d","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/ddca4b82027e2a66333dd40fab21a4beff435c7e","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/f839e5f1cef36ce268950c387129b1bfefdaebc9"],"weaknesses":[],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T20:05:26.763Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2022/49xxx/CVE-2022-49172.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.2","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2022-49172","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2025-02-26T01:55:28.628Z","dateUpdated":"2026-08-05T08:54:14.479Z","assignerShortName":"Linux","assignerOrgId":"416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67","dateReserved":"2025-02-26T01:49:39.279Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"parisc: Fix non-access data TLB cache flush faults","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:\n\nparisc: Fix non-access data TLB cache flush faults\n\nWhen a page is not present, we get non-access data TLB faults from\nthe fdc and fic instructions in flush_user_dcache_range_asm and\nflush_user_icache_range_asm.
