no root or init-namespace capabilities are needed for the vulnerable allocation path.\nUI:N - Once the volume is mounted writable, the attacker triggers the flaw solely by their own mkdir/directory-growth operations with no further victim interaction.\nS:U - Impact stays within the host kernel/filesystem authority; this is not a VM escape, IOMMU bypass, or other cross-boundary compromise.\nC:N - The overflow causes wrong-sector zeroing via legitimate buffer_heads or skips zeroing; it does not provide a kernel memory read primitive or other information disclosure beyond normal filesystem access.\nI:H - Truncating sector_t blknr into int makes the loop zero the wrong sectors (e.g. from 0 through INT_MAX, ~1TiB), overwriting boot/FAT/bitmap and other volume data and destroying filesystem integrity.\nA:H - The same truncated loop can issue on the order of 2^31 block zeroing operations and then hit signed overflow UB, causing prolonged hang, severe I/O DoS, or kernel instability."}]}],"providerMetadata":{"shortName":"Linux","orgId":"416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67","dateUpdated":"2026-08-05T08:51:40.854Z"},"cpeApplicability":[{"nodes":[{"operator":"OR","negate":false,"cpeMatch":[{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"5.19","versionEndExcluding":"5.19.12"},{"vulnerable":true,"criteria":"cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","versionStartIncluding":"5.19","versionEndExcluding":"6.0"}]}]}],"x_generator":{"engine":"bippy-1.2.0"}},"adp":[{"title":"CISA ADP Vulnrichment","metrics":[{"other":{"type":"ssvc","content":{"timestamp":"2024-06-17T19:08:47.689529Z","id":"CVE-2022-48665","options":[{"Exploitation":"none"},{"Automatable":"no"},{"Technical Impact":"partial"}],"role":"CISA Coordinator","version":"2.0.3"}}}],"providerMetadata":{"shortName":"CISA-ADP","orgId":"134c704f-9b21-4f2e-91b3-4a467353bcc0","dateUpdated":"2024-06-17T19:08:57.204Z"}},{"title":"CVE Program Container","references":[{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/17244f71765dfec39e84493993993e896c376d09","tags":["x_transferred"]},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/2e9ceb6728f1dc2fa4b5d08f37d88cbc49a20a62","tags":["x_transferred"]}],"providerMetadata":{"shortName":"CVE","orgId":"af854a3a-2127-422b-91ae-364da2661108","dateUpdated":"2024-08-03T15:17:55.708Z"}}]}}}
