{"id":"CVE-2022-39215","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"The readDir Endpoint Scope can be Bypassed With Symbolic Links in Tauri","description":"Tauri is a framework for building binaries for all major desktop platforms. Due to missing canonicalization when `readDir` is called recursively, it was possible to display directory listings outside of the defined `fs` scope. This required a crafted symbolic link or junction folder inside an allowed path of the `fs` scope. No arbitrary file content could be leaked. The issue has been resolved in version 1.0.6 and the implementation now properly checks if the requested (sub) directory is a symbolic link outside of the defined `scope`. Users are advised to upgrade. Users unable to upgrade should disable the `readDir` endpoint in the `allowlist` inside the `tauri.conf.json`.","publishedAt":"2022-09-15T21:35:11.000Z","updatedAt":"2025-04-22T17:21:33.273Z","severity":{"score":8.3,"label":"High","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L","source":"GitHub_M"},"assigner":"GitHub_M","products":["tauri-apps tauri"],"affected":[{"vendor":"tauri-apps","product":"tauri","versions":[{"version":"< 1.0.6","status":"affected"}]}],"references":["https://github.com/tauri-apps/tauri/security/advisories/GHSA-28m8-9j7v-x499","https://github.com/tauri-apps/tauri/issues/4882","https://github.com/tauri-apps/tauri/pull/5123","https://github.com/tauri-apps/tauri/pull/5123/commits/1f9b9e8d26a2c915390323e161020bcb36d44678"],"weaknesses":["CWE-22"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T19:50:29.496Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2022/39xxx/CVE-2022-39215.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.1","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2022-39215","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2022-09-15T21:35:11.000Z","dateUpdated":"2025-04-22T17:21:33.273Z","assignerShortName":"GitHub_M","assignerOrgId":"a0819718-46f1-4df5-94e2-005712e83aaa","dateReserved":"2022-09-02T00:00:00.000Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"The readDir Endpoint Scope can be Bypassed With Symbolic Links in Tauri","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"Tauri is a framework for building binaries for all major desktop platforms.
