An attacker can also capture and replay Z-Wave traffic. Firmware upgrades cannot directly address this vulnerability as it is an issue with the Z-Wave specification for these legacy chipsets. One way to protect against this vulnerability is to use 500 or 700 series chipsets that support Security 2 (S2) encryption. As examples, the Linear WADWAZ-1 version 3.43 and WAPIRZ-1 version 3.43 (with 300 series chipsets) are vulnerable.","publishedAt":"2022-01-07T04:30:23.469Z","updatedAt":"2024-09-16T20:03:41.584Z","severity":null,"assigner":"certcc","products":["Linear WADWAZ-1","Linear WAPIRZ-1","Silicon Labs 100 series","Silicon Labs 200 series","Silicon Labs 300 series"],"affected":[{"vendor":"Linear","product":"WADWAZ-1","versions":[{"version":"3.43","status":"affected"}]},{"vendor":"Linear","product":"WAPIRZ-1","versions":[{"version":"3.43","status":"affected"}]},{"vendor":"Silicon Labs","product":"100 series","versions":[{"version":"all","status":"affected"}]},{"vendor":"Silicon Labs","product":"200 series","versions":[{"version":"all","status":"affected"}]},{"vendor":"Silicon Labs","product":"300 series","versions":[{"version":"all","status":"affected"}]}],"references":["https://kb.cert.org/vuls/id/142629","https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/9663293","https://github.com/CNK2100/VFuzz-public","https://doi.org/10.1109/ACCESS.2021.3138768","https://www.kb.cert.org/vuls/id/142629"],"weaknesses":["CWE-311"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T19:47:47.279Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2020/9xxx/CVE-2020-9057.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.1","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2020-9057","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2022-01-07T04:30:23.469Z","dateUpdated":"2024-09-16T20:03:41.584Z","assignerShortName":"certcc","assignerOrgId":"37e5125f-f79b-445b-8fad-9564f167944b","dateReserved":"2020-02-18T00:00:00.000Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"Z-Wave devices based on Silicon Labs 100, 200, and 300 series chipsets do not support encryption, allowing an attacker within radio range to take control of or cause a denial of service to a vulnerable device.
