{"id":"CVE-2020-3110","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"Cisco Video Surveillance 8000 Series IP Cameras Cisco Discovery Protocol Remote Code Execution and Denial of Service Vulnerability","description":"A vulnerability in the Cisco Discovery Protocol implementation for the Cisco Video Surveillance 8000 Series IP Cameras could allow an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to execute code remotely or cause a reload of an affected IP Camera. The vulnerability is due to missing checks when processing Cisco Discovery Protocol messages. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a malicious Cisco Discovery Protocol packet to the targeted IP Camera. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to expose the affected IP Camera for remote code execution or cause it to reload unexpectedly, resulting in a denial of service (DoS) condition. Cisco Discovery Protocol is a Layer 2 protocol. To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker must be in the same broadcast domain as the affected device (Layer 2 adjacent). This vulnerability is fixed in Video Surveillance 8000 Series IP Camera Firmware Release 1.0.7 and later.","publishedAt":"2020-02-05T17:35:14.283Z","updatedAt":"2024-11-15T17:42:54.691Z","severity":{"score":8.8,"label":"High","version":"3.0","vector":"CVSS:3.0/AV:A/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","source":"cisco"},"assigner":"cisco","products":["Cisco Cisco Video Surveillance 8000 Series IP Cameras"],"affected":[{"vendor":"Cisco","product":"Cisco Video Surveillance 8000 Series IP Cameras","versions":[{"version":"unspecified","status":"affected","lessThan":"1.0.7","versionType":"custom"}]}],"references":["https://tools.cisco.com/security/center/content/CiscoSecurityAdvisory/cisco-sa-20200205-ipcameras-rce-dos","http://packetstormsecurity.com/files/156203/Cisco-Discovery-Protocol-CDP-Remote-Device-Takeover.html"],"weaknesses":["CWE-20"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T19:47:29.373Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2020/3xxx/CVE-2020-3110.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.1","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2020-3110","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2020-02-05T17:35:14.283Z","dateUpdated":"2024-11-15T17:42:54.691Z","assignerShortName":"cisco","assignerOrgId":"d1c1063e-7a18-46af-9102-31f8928bc633","dateReserved":"2019-12-12T00:00:00.000Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"Cisco Video Surveillance 8000 Series IP Cameras Cisco Discovery Protocol Remote Code Execution and Denial of Service Vulnerability","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"A vulnerability in the Cisco Discovery Protocol implementation for the Cisco Video Surveillance 8000 Series IP Cameras could allow an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to execute code remotely or cause a reload of an affected IP Camera.
