{"id":"CVE-2019-16772","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"regular expressions Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in serialize-to-js","description":"The serialize-to-js NPM package before version 3.0.1 is vulnerable to Cross-site Scripting (XSS). It does not properly mitigate against unsafe characters in serialized regular expressions. This vulnerability is not affected on Node.js environment since Node.js's implementation of RegExp.prototype.toString() backslash-escapes all forward slashes in regular expressions. If serialized data of regular expression objects are used in an environment other than Node.js, it is affected by this vulnerability.","publishedAt":"2019-12-06T23:25:14.000Z","updatedAt":"2024-08-05T01:24:48.633Z","severity":{"score":3.1,"label":"Low","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:L","source":"GitHub_M"},"assigner":"GitHub_M","products":["commenthol serialize-to-js"],"affected":[{"vendor":"commenthol","product":"serialize-to-js","versions":[{"version":"< 3.0.1","status":"affected","lessThan":"3.0.1","versionType":"custom"}]}],"references":["https://github.com/commenthol/serialize-to-js/security/advisories/GHSA-3fjq-93xj-3f3f","https://github.com/commenthol/serialize-to-js/commit/181d7d583ae5293cd47cc99b14ad13352875f3e3"],"weaknesses":["CWE-79"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T19:45:36.262Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2019/16xxx/CVE-2019-16772.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.1","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2019-16772","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2019-12-06T23:25:14.000Z","dateUpdated":"2024-08-05T01:24:48.633Z","assignerShortName":"GitHub_M","assignerOrgId":"a0819718-46f1-4df5-94e2-005712e83aaa","dateReserved":"2019-09-24T00:00:00.000Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"regular expressions Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in serialize-to-js","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"The serialize-to-js NPM package before version 3.0.1 is vulnerable to Cross-site Scripting (XSS).
