This results from an incomplete patch for CVE-2018-12426. Arbitrary file upload is achieved by using a non-blacklisted executable file extension in conjunction with a whitelisted file extension, and prepending \"magic bytes\" to the payload to pass MIME checks. Specifically, an unauthenticated remote user submits a crafted file upload POST request to the REST api remote_upload endpoint. The file contains data that will fool the plugin's MIME check into classifying it as an image (which is a whitelisted file extension) and finally a trailing .phtml file extension.","publishedAt":"2019-06-03T20:34:53.000Z","updatedAt":"2024-08-04T22:48:08.128Z","severity":null,"assigner":"mitre","products":["n/a n/a"],"affected":[{"vendor":"n/a","product":"n/a","versions":[{"version":"n/a","status":"affected"}]}],"references":["https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-live-chat-support/#developers","https://wp-livechat.com/","https://wpvulndb.com/vulnerabilities/9320"],"weaknesses":[],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T19:45:22.458Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2019/11xxx/CVE-2019-11185.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.1","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2019-11185","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2019-06-03T20:34:53.000Z","dateUpdated":"2024-08-04T22:48:08.128Z","assignerShortName":"mitre","assignerOrgId":"8254265b-2729-46b6-b9e3-3dfca2d5bfca","dateReserved":"2019-04-11T00:00:00.000Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"The WP Live Chat Support Pro plugin through 8.0.26 for WordPress contains an arbitrary file upload vulnerability.
