The Windows installer for EnterpriseDB-supplied PostgreSQL does not lock down the ACL of the binary installation directory or the ACL of the data directory; it keeps the inherited ACL. In the default configuration, this allows a local attacker to read arbitrary data directory files, essentially bypassing database-imposed read access limitations. In plausible non-default configurations, an attacker having both an unprivileged Windows account and an unprivileged PostgreSQL account can cause the PostgreSQL service account to execute arbitrary code.","publishedAt":"2021-03-19T19:15:11.000Z","updatedAt":"2024-08-04T22:10:09.785Z","severity":null,"assigner":"redhat","products":["n/a postgresql"],"affected":[{"vendor":"n/a","product":"postgresql","versions":[{"version":"11.x prior to 11.3","status":"affected"}]}],"references":["https://www.postgresql.org/about/news/1939/","https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1707102","https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20210430-0004/"],"weaknesses":["CWE-284"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T19:45:19.894Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2019/10xxx/CVE-2019-10128.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.1","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2019-10128","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2021-03-19T19:15:11.000Z","dateUpdated":"2024-08-04T22:10:09.785Z","assignerShortName":"redhat","assignerOrgId":"53f830b8-0a3f-465b-8143-3b8a9948e749","dateReserved":"2019-03-27T00:00:00.000Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"A vulnerability was found in postgresql versions 11.x prior to 11.3.
