{"id":"CVE-2018-0423","state":"PUBLISHED","title":"Cisco RV110W, RV130W, and RV215W Routers Management Interface Buffer Overflow Vulnerability","description":"A vulnerability in the web-based management interface of the Cisco RV110W Wireless-N VPN Firewall, Cisco RV130W Wireless-N Multifunction VPN Router, and Cisco RV215W Wireless-N VPN Router could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to cause a denial of service condition or to execute arbitrary code. The vulnerability is due to improper boundary restrictions on user-supplied input in the Guest user feature of the web-based management interface. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending malicious requests to a targeted device, triggering a buffer overflow condition. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to cause the device to stop responding, resulting in a denial of service condition, or could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code.","publishedAt":"2018-10-05T14:00:00.000Z","updatedAt":"2024-11-26T14:45:30.758Z","severity":null,"assigner":"cisco","products":["Cisco Cisco RV130W Wireless-N Multifunction VPN Router Firmware"],"affected":[{"vendor":"Cisco","product":"Cisco RV130W Wireless-N Multifunction VPN Router Firmware","versions":[{"version":"n/a","status":"affected"}]}],"references":["https://tools.cisco.com/security/center/content/CiscoSecurityAdvisory/cisco-sa-20180905-rv-routers-overflow","http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/105285","http://www.securitytracker.com/id/1041675"],"weaknesses":["CWE-119"],"ingestedAt":"2026-10-29T19:44:03.729Z","source":{"repository":"CVEProject/cvelistV5","path":"cves/2018/0xxx/CVE-2018-0423.json","commit":"556c9d3a8cd17e218bb8e452ba7cd619a384ff47"},"raw":{"dataType":"CVE_RECORD","dataVersion":"5.1","cveMetadata":{"cveId":"CVE-2018-0423","state":"PUBLISHED","datePublished":"2018-10-05T14:00:00.000Z","dateUpdated":"2024-11-26T14:45:30.758Z","assignerShortName":"cisco","assignerOrgId":"d1c1063e-7a18-46af-9102-31f8928bc633","dateReserved":"2017-11-27T00:00:00.000Z"},"containers":{"cna":{"title":"Cisco RV110W, RV130W, and RV215W Routers Management Interface Buffer Overflow Vulnerability","descriptions":[{"lang":"en","value":"A vulnerability in the web-based management interface of the Cisco RV110W Wireless-N VPN Firewall, Cisco RV130W Wireless-N Multifunction VPN Router, and Cisco RV215W Wireless-N VPN Router could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to cause a denial of service condition or to execute arbitrary code.
